Do we think they will cancel Christmas fully?

They have to, I feel that the Tory will says it’s not needed if Christmas is cancelled and the rate remain unchanged.

I don't reckon there will be any change from the "three households" plan. Maybe some form of mini-lockdown afterwards justified by "we let you have christmas".

How many other religious holidays were "cancelled"? Why should Xmas get a free pass? Who in their right mind is going to having the maximum allowed gathering size if their area is in bad enough shape to warrant one of the higher tiers anyway?

In the Netherlands, the only concession they've made for Xmas is that you are allowed a maximum of three daily visitors, instead of two.

Yet another example of what a shambles this Goverment are, the cat is already out of the bag it's too late to meaningfully tighten what they've already said is the guidance, January is going to be bleak.

Possibly over thinking it, but it could have been a tactical way for them to 'cancel Christmas' but make scientists / Starmer etc the bad guy.

My memory is a bit hazy but wasn't there a lockdown preventing people visiting other households this Eid? Pretty sure there was but not sure if it was a local or national lockdown...

It was in the North. Local lockdown announced three hours before the start of Eid al-Adha.

Loads of people if current tiers and lockdown 2 is anything to go by! Our neighbour has been ploughing on as if his living room is a pub on match day night after night. We drove through Shoreditch because of work last Saturday evening and it was teeming. People be selfish... very very selfish!

People all over my social are all going out together hugging etc.

I will be fuming if my modest plan of isolating for 2 weeks to have my sister over for Christmas with just me and my partner isn't allowed to happen because of the selfishness of others current actions.
