  • Manual!

    You’ve changed.

  • Have you got nothing better to do?

Can you lend me 4000euro at a good exchange rate ;)

    Seen an interesting 850 spider.

  • No, it's still José... 🥁

I even call trousers pants now... 🤦‍♂️

  • Nice

  • @stevo_com's is the smaller model, but I've seen a Ford S-Max passing Imprezas during a track day at Castle Combe in the rain.

  • The car is now definitely trolling me. Gave the Mrs a lift over to babysit for some friends of hers, drivers side rear tyre throws up an alert - it's dropped from 280 Kpa to 225. Oh-oh.

I pump it back up to 280, drive home. Just now I go to pick her up again - tyre does it again, drops to 225 but once it's dropped it's rock solid. I pumped it back up a couple of minutes ago and will check it tomorrow morning, and then go to a repair place if any are open.

Just me, or this strike anyone else as odd?

  • Current alfa does the same on the rear nearside tyre.. TPS games..

  • I have had both in our '16 Octavia. The Stop/start seems to be intermittent in cold temperatures (today it didn't work every time). I also had phantom tire pressure loss warnings but they were during the height of summer, been fine since.

  • Not odd at all. Loads of people babysit for their friends.

  • I'm going to be the first to say it - Dammit's car is haunted. Probably by a squirrel that met its fate under that precise wheel.

  • Possibly. I just don’t know why the pressure would drop by the same amount, then stay there.

  • Is this the norm for a newer high end car filled with electronic gubbins? There’s loads of stuff that can go wrong, and therefore will.

Spoken to a few who spent close to £90k on Volvos, BMWs, Mercs, etc and their cars are back at the dealer 3-4-5-6 times in the first year alone to sort out niggles

  • Never get these issues with Japanese cars...

  • Have you set the desired pressure in the cars system?

As to why just one wheel? That doesn't correspond to the "damaged" wheel from the mb report?

  • I’ve got a leased car from work, you wouldn’t believe the amount of problems I’ve had with the electronic gubbins... used to get a low tire pressure fault from the spare tire, just turning on the screens in the back seats caused the Bluetooth to drop out every 20 seconds, rear tailgate would say open so couldn’t lock the car, every 3-4 months was back at the dealer with never a clear answer just a lot of “must need a software update”.
Finally gave up and convinced boss to buy a ‘93 car and lease a cheaper Audi Rs4 estate for running around.... saw some really nice classic cars last week when I signed the papers , place seems to be a museum/private car storage/classic workshops and classic dealers all in one https://remise.de/berlin

  • No, and when I checked the pressure with a gauge the TPMS is correct- that tyre has lost pressure. I’ll run it round to Kwik Fit after breakfast, so they can refuse to repair it and try to sell me a non-matching tyre for £700

  • Such a pain. I'm a stickler for even and correct tyre pressure. The described symptoms suggest there's genuine leak, maybe it just slows to barely anything below 32 psi. Annoying!

I imagine any decent tyre place would suggest you must have matching tyres on each axle, that'll be £1400 sir....

  • I’m prepared to be surprised, but will Kwik Fit Sydenham have two 19”, 285x30 Pirelli Sotto-Zero in stock?

  • Anyway, I’ll stick one of the summer rears in the boot, if it’s a cracked rim they can swap the tyre, if it’s a puncture hopefully they can repair it. If they won’t then there’s a better tyre place open on Monday.

  • Speed camera introduced that can detect +/- 2kmph at up to 1 mile (reduced to 1/2 mile by UK rules), whilst reading the number plate.

    Pretty cool

  • Tyre down to 155 Kpa, and I found that someone has rifled through the storage in the car overnight- clearly I didn’t lock it when I thought I had.

  • That'll be one of the gremlins.

  • So by the time Waze flashes an alert of a speed camera 500m away it might already be too late :/

  • Exactly, also with BMW so I am sure similar across other manufacturers reasons for it not switching the vehicle off are;
Battery charge low-- it will always make sure the battery is sufficiently charged before allowing switch off.

Air con function -- windscreen fogging sensors will keep the engine running if the windscreen still needs demisting.
Air Con-- if the customer has set a temperature for the interior cabin it will keep running until this has been achieved.

Emissions if the Catalyst (petrol) or DPF (diesel) are not up to efficient operating temperature it will keep the engine running until it is.

If any system on the car is doing something that requires the engine running it won't switch off.

    Reasons it will restart while switched off;

    Releasing the brake.
    Releasing the clutch
Steering input to power up power steering.
    Battery level dropping.

These are the most popular reasons. :)
