Everyone who has used stop/start is telling you that it's not like a set of headlights which light when they work and don't when they don't.
It is designed to game a system. This means "working" = functioning in a specific set of test conditions. Not when you want it to, and definitely not when you're not using it daily and doing London driving.
Because you've remotely diagnosed it via the Internets? Sounds like a wise basis for gambling £28,000.
