  • Been shooting some Ilford Delta 400, nice stuff.

Also just paid the repair for the Leica M4 and 50mm summicron F2. That's my Christmas sorted :)

  • Great shot.

It was you and your rolleicord that got me looking at TLR so got myself a rolleicord V.

  • forum peeps - I shot the odd bit of film with my dad's old point and shoot (Nikon Lite Touch Zoom 70W) and I don't really know what I am doing. The the flash doesn't work and I had some ISO 400 in (Ilford HP5 plus) for most of this year using it partly inside. Is there anything I can do with the few like this? Also, what is rough ball park for getting a flash fixed? Appreciate any pointers - cheers :)

  • @mrJL nice shots! Where do you get your film developed in Bristol? I've been using snappy snaps near Cabot

  • Is there anything I can do with the few like this?

Not really, I mean you can crank up the curves but there just isn't much there to work with frankly.

Also, what is rough ball park for getting a flash fixed?

Most probably not worth it in this case.

You could just use the camera in well-lit situations / turn the flash off.
The image above looks like the camera wanted to use the flash (not "knowing" it doesn't work, resulting in a severely under-exposed image)

  • @tinakino thanks! Just checked and was on auto for the whole roll (and probs the one before). The outdoor ones came out okay

  • I haven’t been using a local service but I do intend to send a couple rolls through Bristol Cameras soon

  • Anyone want this Canon F1N? Mint except for the vin(?) being missing. Only took the lens off to take pics. Asking £250

  • My knee is a bit fucked and I cant cycle as much as I want to so I want to process B&W film and get a cheap setup together; where do I start? I will only be doing 120mm film; only HP5 and would like to do 3 rolls at once. Will be digitising myself with a digital camera.

  • Dev tank that can take 3 spools
    3 spools
Some graduated flasks (one big enough for the full capacity of the tank I guess).
    Dark bag.
Chemicals. The Ilford set is a good starter (3 bottles, not the single use set).
3 bottles for storing chemicals. I use 1l flip top IKEA glass bottles. Drawing the graduations on the side in marker pen.

  • Might be worth doing one roll at a time till you're happy with your process?

  • Thank you very much for this.

I have done dev at home in the past; we were living in a tiny flat with really small kitchen. Now I have space :)

Dev tank that can take 3 spools

I think can easily find Paterson tanks that take 2x 120mm rolls 2nd hand so will just go with that

    3 spools

    ✅ Check

Some graduated flasks (one big enough for the full capacity of the tank I guess).

✅ Check; 3? Dev, stop, fix?

    Dark bag.

    ✅ Check

Chemicals. The Ilford set is a good starter (3 bottles, not the single use set).

I read that DD-X is good for Delta not HP5 but yeah leaning towards something Ilford

3 bottles for storing chemicals. I use 1l flip top IKEA glass bottles. Drawing the graduations on the side in marker pen.

    Excellent idea!

  • not a bad idea but the tank is the only thing that differs here when it comes to initial 'investment'

  • @mi7rennie got anything to sell?

  • Hey man, I'll have a look tonight.

    Cheers!

  • I might have spare tanks

  • that would be amazing! I can give you some home made ghee.

  • So Leica lust has really bitten me. I'm considering an M6.

Where's the best place to start looking and I'm considering matching with a voightlander 35 is this a good starter or should I just opt for the more expensive Leica equivalent?

  • Oh and @amey I'll dig out the stuff I used to use when I first started developing at home.

What have your thoughts been regarding scanning with the dslr?

  • Get an M6 if you need the LED meter, could save some money and get an M2/M4/M5. Arguably they’ll all keep their value.

As for the lens, depending on what you plan on using the camera for or just to see if you’ll like it - I’d say the voigtlander 35s are great. Can only be beat by Zeiss or Leica but for a considerable premium. I have the nokton 35, and it’s a great all rounder - small and great for taking on holiday ツ
