  • What kind of woolen (knit) hats are there that also protect ears from wind, still look like "normal" hats (not like outdoor-y special equipment things), and that use something different than the GoreTex Infinum stuff?
..while this keeps wind out it also is like a crakly foil that makes annoing crakly sounds right at your fucking ears all the time.
Surely there must be some that use a windstoppery fleece type material hats alas I can't seem to find them.

  • I had to drill a screw/bolt head off to remove the door card on my car to get to and repair the handle.

Now I need to find a replacement.

It's a Suzuki Alto so there's no parts book or manual etc.

    It looked kinda like this,

I think it's maybe called an acme bolt?

Either tapping it out for a proper bolt or just whacking one in and hoping for the best might be easier than tracking down the actual item?

  • I use a merino beanie like this and it works a treat, pulled down a bit further. Thin enough to use under a helmet, light enough to wear inside and warm enough to ride with.

  • Um, just a wool toque?
Something like @Hjusth posted; you can get thicker, thinner, lined with polar fleece if you're sensitive, the variations are endless.

  • If there's 100% humidity outside, is there any point opening the window in the bathroom after I take a shower to try and stop the bathroom from being too damp?

  • Yes, the bathroom is likely to be warmer than outside therefore it will have more moisture in the air than outside. (The warmer the air then the more moisture it holds at 100% humidity.)

If you don't open the windows then as the room cools down the excess moisture will condense on surfaces.

If you open the window the air will mix as the room cools and so there will be less condensation inside.

  • I'm trying to sign into a google account that someone has added me as a user to.

    It is saying;

    Couldn't sign you in
Your sign-in settings don't meet your organization's 2-Step Verification policy.

    Any ideas?

Ideally, I would like to try and figure this out before going back to the person who added me.

    Cheers.

  • Try changing your account settings to add 2-step verification. You'll probably have to add a phone number.

  • I'm a bit confused. I have my main/personal google account, let's call it hugo7@gmail.com then I have this new one, H7@new.com. My personal one had 2fa on.

To set it up I tried to log out of hugo7@gmail.com and then log in to google using H7@new.com. In this case I have no ability to add/edit the 2fa settings, right?

I have tried a second time by:

    1. checking the 2fa setting on my personal hugo7@gmail.com is on, and then adding the google authenticator, then
    2. adding another account (H7@new.com).

I have also tried just adding the H7@new.com to my desktop Outlook.

    All still the same.

  • Yes... but I think it's pretty ineffective without forced ventilation, as you get air cooling and thus water condensing around the window before it leaves the room.

@Belagerent get a ventilation fan, or a better one.

  • Um, just a wool toque?
    Something like @Hjusth posted

I do have a merino wool one and it's nice and warm, yet those hardly keep the wind out, hence my question.

  • When it’s colder than zero or so I usually add a balaclava underneath. I like the one I have from Varusteleka.

  • I’m struggling to find other ways to explain this, but my problem is the wind, not the cold.

  • The wind is a constant factor in my part of the world. All my toques are double rolled at the hem which provides a certain level of blockage. When that isn’t enough I add the balaclava layer, as by that point my neck will be feeling it as well. My wife’s technique involves clamping ear muffs over a bucket hat. You do whatever works.

  • I always find those things allow air to blow in from the bottom.

  • I don't think it's design for bottom protection.

  • Wakka wakka

  • Should I get the park tools CWP-7 for 16 pounds or the ice toolz equiv for a fiver.

Want to pull a crank from an old bike. It might be a bit stiff I guess.

  • Ice toolz, but make sure you’re not getting the one that requires an 8mm Allen key if you don’t have said Allen key.

  • My gf’s been getting palm pain from her Campag 11s Potenza shifters when she spends time on the hoods. Anyone else have this problem? We’ve tried rewrapping and padding with bar tape, but the shifter bodies seem to create a much more noticeable lump than shimano or previous Campag shifters I’ve known, to the point that I’m left wondering how they thought ergopower were an upgrade.
