@Ramsaye that was Android-iOS transfers though.
If you’re just going from iPhone to iPhone then when you open WhatsApp for the first time on the new phone it’ll ask if you want to restore from the iCloud backup.
It’s not a problem that you don’t see a folder of chat files sitting inside iCloud now. They’re kept elsewhere and hidden.

Noob question:
I have an iphone with whatsapp and I've backed up my whatsapp chat to icloud drive so I can import it to my new iphone. However when I sing into icloud drive on my laptop I don't see a folder saying 'whatsapp chats' or something similar. Should such a folder be there?
