It’s all my fault as I asked for it to be fitted

For example, when the outside temperature drops at night, more heat is lost through the walls of the building. Because the outdoor sensor detects the fall as soon as it happens, the boiler is able to raise the radiator temperature and keep the inside temperature stable.
Only wrong uns have their heating on at night IMO.

Ha, when we had the beast from the east our heating stayed on for 72 hours solid

That rhymes with take a taxi when it is to cold to ride a bike!

For those with Vaillant boilers, check out V-Smart. This is Vaillant's own system and connects to the E-bus system and offers fine-grained control of the whole system via the app, and learns as it goes. It uses internet weather info for weather compensation.
Our system has been in 3 years and I have no complaints. The app is fairly easy to use, and should bad things happen to the wifi you can still change the temperature with the thermostat buttons.

But aren't you in a ground floor flat in the middle of a terrace?

Emails are infinitely more easily forged.

Yes yes, all fair points (except the trolling from @fussballclub) and I don't live in Cornwall either...
Comment was assuming reasonably well insulated house in London.

We’ve had our Vaillant (and v-smart) in for 6 months now and it works brilliantly. The app looks shit but works well and the learning and weather stuff seems to just work too.
@Howard whatever you get, make sure it can control the modulation of the boiler, otherwise you’ll never get any of the efficiency benefits of a new boiler (especially in a larger house where heating momentum? is greater) and possibly wear things out quicker, slamming it on and off at 100%.

Agreed, I went with the Viessmann, 1.9kw to 35kw range and 10year warranty.
-
• #39638
All boilers modulate now they dont come on full and then cut off.
-
• #39639
Not all 3rd party smart thermostats can control the modulation, in which case they’re either on or off. Whether or not the boilers have a soft/ramp start, they still won’t know how much power is required for an ‘On’ call.

Netatmo is simple. If your not going for the smart house vibe then this is ideal. No hub required and the relay connects to the WiFi. You can get individual trvs which you can control via the app. Compliant with Alexa google and apple

Maybe, but I’ve never been asked to send a fax by lawyers in commercial settings for significantly larger deals than a flat...

If anyone can recommend a boiler repair person in SE London who can look at and fix my boiler in the next day or so, CA. You let me know?

Can’t recommend hardcore histories enough for decorating. The only problem is I tend to get distracted by the podcast so it ends up taking longer...

Used Rokas recently here in Peckham did good job on boiler service and radiator repair.
He doesn't always do south of the river though.

Offer accepted!
The place is one street back, on the same side as the road and even the same house number as @chrisbmx116 so we're basically going to mirror his life in a not at all stalky way :)
Except I don't think we'll be able to afford Eckford Chong given the figure we had to go to :(
I think my one pro tip for buying in a desirable bit of Walthamstow is if you really want a place offer just enough to make yourself feel physically sick and it's probably in about the right ballpark...

Big news for @chrisbmx116 !
You moving in adds at least 5% on his house value

I’m simplifying here but in my experience small time Trades people will not repair a boiler if it’s the actual boiler that’s stopped working rather than the controller, piping or valves that are connected to it.
Questions to ask will be
- do you have experience working on this make/model
- Do you carry parts, if not can you get parts today
If you strongly suspect it’s the boiler and not something connected to it then you might get more luck talking to the manufacturer and getting a repair through them.

Any recommendations for a builder who will do a (small) kitchen and bathroom refit job in Balham area?
TIA
We have fitted a few and ended up taking them out, absolutely pish and the standards that are getting forced upon folk are ridiculous from idiots who I feel like dont actually work in the real life.
Opentherm doesn't really play well with Baxi boilers either. I dont think people are saving the money they think they will with these things.
