  • I got the seller or that BJ tandem to send over the geo to check fit. The front end looks ideal for me. Stoker setup is bit off though. Seat tube is good, 500mm, but the reach, even with a 30mm 35º stem is way too short for my wife. The reach (centre top of saddle to centre of bars) on her Brompton is 660mm. The longest I could get it on the tandem would be 530mm. The Brompton isn't exactly an aggressive positon so I'm concerned she'll be pretty compressed, and have a poor view of my back.

From what I've read, the stoker position is often compromised with shorter reach, but this seems too much. Thoughts?

On older tandems, yes, but people coped. If you want a 700mm seat pitch, you're going to be shopping in the 21st Century. The one you're being offered is as long as my trackdem, and we squeezed @umop3pisdn into that space 🙂

  • Ah that’s interesting. Andy isn’t a short lad. My wife is 168cm. Maybe it’ll be ok.

Do I wait around for a more modern machine that’s less steezy, or just take the plunge and go full quill stem leather saddle red wine in the bidon?
