  • Search for Wenco 510899. That's the best one I've used. It takes the lid off by cutting the side of the tin rather than the top and doesn't leave a jagged edge.

  • I've been won over by the start of this extremely polite review:

    Dear friends, Hi.

  • How old were you when you first realised that the BBC don't just put in adverts in the middle of programs like ITV/Channel 4 etc?

  • Coming as a fresh off the boat 6yo Soviet, I was blown away by the fact that there were ads on the telly and was mesmerised/obsessed by them for yonks.

  • I remember being old enough that I felt silly for not realising, less than 10 but no idea when exactly.

Edit: I’m calling bullshit on myself. 10-12 more likely.

  • I think I was probably 12 or 13. My girlfriend just realised it tonight. She's 32.

  • Googles... 1991. When they started including listings for ITV/C4* in the Radio Times. We literally didn't watch the other channels before then, so the concept of adverts was new.

    Christ I'm old.

(* Just those two. There was no "etc" back then)

Ah, and remember when they first introduced Channel 5, and it was shit... oh.

  • It was fuzzy for years because the signal was so shit too.

  • s'anyone got a recommendation for what/where to buy resistance bands? The reviews at Decathlon for their own bands are pretty poor.
Looking for long/wide with a couple of resistance options.
    Ta!

  • carrying a spare tube for 700 x 38 tyres - thinking about space saving...whats the narrowest tube I could get away with as an emergency spare...(i.e. without it over inflating and exploding / stretching too thin)?

  • I'm thinking about picking up some schwalbe aerothan as backup tubes I'll never use.

  • interesting - I remember reading about these new tube materials a while ago then forgot all about it

  • I just started carrying a tubalito.

  • There's also the revoloop tube which looks identical and is slightly cheaper

  • No trade discount for me on those.

  • Does anyone know what this is? It was near the top of the dooe frame and is hinged. It screwed into the side of the frame so that the hinged part wraps around the beading. Our first thought was a child lock or something similar but the hinged part didn't get far enough across the door to stop it opening.

  • some kind of limiter to stop the door opening too much?

  • It's a security latch. Used to keep the door from opening if installed correctly. The curved bit slides down and locks when flush with the door usually in conjunction with a door chain. Not terribly good which is why they fell out of favour. More of a 60-70s era thing. I haven't seen one in a long time.

  • Perfect, thanks very much!

  • Am I allowed to branch off my live feed like this? It’s wired in single core cables in conduit. I want to run a permanent live around the installation for my emergency lights, then branch off it as the actual feed for the lights themselves, which will be switched.

I assume I can, or will I need to run entirely separate cables?

  • It looks functional, but it's not the traditional way of wiring lighting. Depending on the physical layout, you can end up with out of balance current going through a hole in a piece of metal.

  • I bought these Castelli Overshoes in size "L/XL". They are tiny. 22cm end-to-end. The "L" must stand for "little".

Two questions. Firstly, what kind of a sizing system is "S/M"; "L/XL"; "XXL"; "L/XL/XXL"?

Secondly, I wear a 44 shoe so what size do I need to swap them for?

  • The question section on chain reaction say the L/XL/XXL size is a mistake. The size guide on castelli website says XXL for sizes 44-47

  • Ah I didn't see that section.

I thought I would need to go for XXL. But then I also wouldn't have thought 'L/XL' would be so small. My partner is a size 5 and they look about right for her. Not "Large" and certainly not "Extra Large".
