Agree with TRA here. With a car of this type (astronomical repair & servicing costs) I'd just walk away if there was any doubt in my mind. Another will come up soon which offers added peace of mind.

And also, when you say the Audis are too expensive to insure, how much are you actually talking
Costs me 500 a year to insure my V10 RS6 Avant. But I'm old, live somewhere quiet outside London and have a no claims history decades long. That is for both personal and business use though.

Yeah, baffling that one - only thing I can think is that it had sat for a while and a road test was suggested to unbind the calliper... but then why would you MOT it rather than get someone to just check the brakes.
-
• #60105
A road test isn't going to make the friction material grow back though. Less than 1.5mm left is deeply sketchy.

And suggests it really wasn’t looked after or cared for, performance car with no brakes.
-
• #60107
Ah that's not astronomical though. In my mind over a grand a year is a lot, but I was wondering how far the scale goes when it comes to insuring faster/more expensive cars.
-
• #60108
Was it the same test station? Maybe they took it to someone they thought would be more leniant?

Innit. The amount of newish cars I see broken down at the side of the road round here is ridiculous. People buying the most expensive car they can on finance and then having no cash for maintenance/running the fuel completely dry. Stupid as fuck.

White one is sold, anyway.
I won’t buy the black one unless the owner can update the digital service record, so I’m a bit stuck. I reckon Christmas is going to see me in two grands worth of easily sellable, random estate. Suggestions on the back of a postcard please.
Also anyone spotting a highly specced E63 estate in great condition for ~£30,000 wins a prize.

True, perhaps they wanted them freed up before changing the pads. Could have been a free retest I suppose, cheaper than paying for a mechanic to check.🤷♂️
-
• #60113
Ah that's not astronomical though.
Indeed. Only 2.5x the cost of insuring the Minor, with over 11 times the power.
-
• #60114
Let me speak to a couple of people, should be able to find one. What sort of max age/mileage are you thinking?
-
• #60116
2015/16, dynamic seats and 360 camera preferably, and up to 50,000 miles.
-
• #60117
And 550bhp.
wow. most powerful forum car?
-
• #60118
Nope.

Like the 2nd hire tyre place down the hill , rarely without some kinnd of speed monster Audi parked outside on the jacks.

We don't get to see enough of the Fury.
Dale's Barra powered Commodore is pretty spicy too I think, been a while since he was on here though.

And here's me trying to put the best rubber I can on my shitbox*.
*relative shitbox, I love it to bits.

@jonny @nefarious I have been Openeo for my tyres now, had some issues with Black Circle kept delivering the wrong size and then three instead of four, Openeo have been reliable and good value, plus 15" tyres are getting harder to find :)

https://www.camskill.co.uk/Edit to say I have found Toyo Proxy a good grip tyre and also Uniroyal Rainsport 3 :)

This one looks quite good, pushing the budget somewhat but 25,000 miles: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202011296594429
What’s the Fury got power wise so I know what to aim for?
-
• #60125
That's surely ticking the all the boxes? And hey, what's 6 grand - a couple of cupholders in the Porsche? ;-)
And you get extra horses!
@Dammit why not sit tight and wait for the right e63 to turn up. Hire a large car when needed in the interim.
