What’s the process for converting a DT swiss front hub to a fixed gear?
Make axle and spacers, bolt into track ends. This assumes you have a 6-bolt through-axle hub and access to a lathe. Hub conversion chat is mostly in the 6-bolt sprocket thread

Thanks, I was hoping there was secret to just inserting a 10x1 axle.

Headset spacers: I've always used Hope Head Doctor and second-hand Chris King, as they're both machined well and have almost zero deviation from their intended shape.
I now need to create an exact stack height which can't be done using Hope's limited range of sizes, I can't find any suitable Chris Kings for sale, and I'm loathe to randomly buy a selection only to find they're on the piss.
Which reasonably-priced 1-1/8" spacers with 35mm outer diameter are well-made enough to be true around their rims, and come in 2/3/6/12mm heights?

Look up ultraturn on eBay, he’ll make you any size you want.
Also I think gbj tester sells headset spacers

• #1031
why do you need such an exact height?
-
• #1032
I don't currently own a combination that can be used to give the correct spacing on a particular build. The Hope spacers only come in 5mm increments.

But in 31.8mm OD, which obviously won't help somebody as fussy as @ectoplasmosis 🙂

Ah, thanks, already looked at ultraturn but they only come in silver; I'm after black.
@gbj_tester Do yours come in 35mm outer diameter?
EDIT: Ninja'd.

Make friends with your local anodiser, mine are silver until they've had a bath 🙂

I am a raging ponce but in this case after something off the peg that I can just order and chuck on the bike.
Just remembered about the trusty Velosolo, they have these: https://velosolo.co.uk/vshead.html
EDIT: Velosolo are out of stock. Anything else suitable out there?

Easy there Tester; some might start to think that this 'friendliest forum on the internet' thing was ironic or something...

And add "keep your dick in a vice" to the approved list.

I know how this forum loves a list - if you want to compile a list of all the recommendations since I last updated it about 5 years ago, start it below and I'll update it.

Who needs this online bullying abuse -- it's just a cycling forum after all.
I had used the within-conversation search function and read the first post. I was hoping for a little more enlightenment than a broad brand name.

Which post on this thread does Tester recommend we read first?

Could you add "read the first post" to the title please?
@dancing james tried that in the tubeless thread, and the ineffectiveness suggested that maybe more emphasis was needed 🙂

Assuming this is for centrepulls and downtube shifters, for the gear cables any stainless and a matching outer should suffice; for my Weinmanns I've got decent service out of Wiggle's own-brand compressionless outer and stainless inners. IME once you're above the dirt-cheap level, decent cable prep (outers ground flat, decent ferrules etc.) is as important as anything else, especially for non-aero cable runs that are automatically more forgiving.
I was looking, but can’t seem to find it. What’s the process for converting a DT swiss front hub to a fixed gear?
