Talkin bout the lugs yo. Either I is confused or he meant links.

How the fuck does an APP that you download, detect magnatism!?
Serious question...
To me it feels like an APP to download a spanner or hammer. Just cause you downloaded it, doesnt mean it is what it says.
Surely the tool is a bunch of coils that detects slight changes in the magnetic flow?!

The phone detects magnetism for various boring reasons; the app just provides access to the data in a way that’s meaningful.

They wrote “straight end links” so I think was that. Although it is the way it is because the case between the lugs is straight.

Magnets. How do they work?

wait till you hear about phone apps that work like a sat-nav...

Ordered a degausser from eBay.
My SKX is also magnetised but running accurately.

LOL, thats exactly my point! Phones are designed with that in mind. It literally has cellular tower triangulation and GPS built in.

WUT?!
Why?!

It has a compass. So it can orient itself / you against GPS/maps. The iPhone compass app is kind of “woah”, check its accelerometer / orientation stuff. Lepsi basically works by letting the phone find its stable environmental magnetic fields and then measuring if they get changed when you bring a watch close to it.

Edit: not meant to be @ you CB.
No no... @ me is right. I was curious.
To be honest, I forgot about the compass, but even if i didnt, i wouldnt have thought it was that accurate as to detect micro changes like that.
Meh, now i feel silly getting all worked up over something that i shouldve already known.

Baby dreadnought has arrived. It’s a real cracker. Hopefully I can get hold of a 1.2mm screwdriver before Friday.

Annoyingly the screws on my Everest bracelet were smaller than the ones on my Speedbird bracelet, for which I'd bought decent correctly-sized jeweler's screwdrivers; as a temp solution I bought some pound shop mini screwdrivers and filed down the tips on a diamond stone. That bodge worked well enough I've still not got round to buying more decent ones...
(Update on the Navigator: it seems to have settled and is running about -3s a week, which is accurate enough for my purposes!)

May try that if I have a file, my smallest screwdriver is 1.4mm. First impressions are it’s great! Manages to be tiny next to a steinhart ocean 39 and rolex sd but chunky on the wrist. I reckon the beadblast finish will chip very easily though 🤷🏻♂️

Opinions please. While typing this it feels like I should know clearly what the answer is but because this watch has huge sentimental value my thoughts are a little off on this.
1988 Air King 5700. Dial lume and hand lume is powdering badly.
Have got a quote from Rolex for a full service and they have suggested replacing the dial, hands and bracelet clasp) with new ones.
I'd be mad to replace the dial, right?

I think you would be.
Can you not have a watch maker just relume it?
-
• #49520
Yes. Yes I could.
The thought crossed my mind to retain the old dial but that's pointless. Can't believe this isn't obvious to me.
-
• #49521
LOL...
I think getting an older watch savaged by Rolex a crime against humanity.
If it was newish and common with no sentimental value, then sure. But not an older watch. Just image what that face will look like in another 30 years :-)

You know what it is? Because Rolex fucking suggest it and you're like "well, they must know what they're talking about". I wonder how many watches get butchered this way?
Will give a dial restorer I know a call.

Jesus. What came over me?
-

They will do things to protect their product. Replace old dials with new. Polish every scratch and ding out to an inch of its life.
Good call on the restorer move.

Lol :) wish I had those pieces!
Every now and then the universe winks back at you.

Tried the Lepsi app and low and behold, it’s detecting magnetism.
