But then you would measure up insode of frame, take out, cut and insert pin, put back in and secure hose at both ends? Unless I am missing something.

If you put the olive on before inserting the pin, it'd be tricky to slide through the frame. If you're confident you can slide the olive into place after inserting the pin then that's an option, yes.
