• Glad this is no longer a beater! (Not that I believed this would have ever been the correct wording, however you use the bike).
I quite like your burgundy version. Didn't @Dammit have a Serrota in that scheme?
Re graphics, the ones H Lloyds have done for me are now on file with them (thanks for reminding me of their existence, they've been really good). Of course the colors aren't right for you, but I would suspect they can swap for anything you like. Whatever font this is was chosen by my graphic designer friend who came up with the logo, which is why I didn't challenge it in the end, for the sake of "historical consistency". On my red version of the bike I felt that the letters, which didn't have an outline, looked a little bulky, not refined enough for a steel frame featuring nice details (yours has a lot of nice cut lugs, etc...). May be worth trying something on that basis? You could probably get rid of the shadow too, which probably isn't right either for you? And of course scale it down from it's current size as your tubing is the elegant type?
I can send you a PDF if you fancied Photoshoping away?

  • Yes Dammit did his Serotta with Mario just before I did my matching Roberts and I ruthlessly stole his colour! I always regretted not getting flam red like I had originally planned, the burgundy never looked great with the silver components... but now i think I'll probably go with burgundy again just to remind me of my old bikes (a lot of the frame details are also nods to past bikes).

Interesting to hear you found the original letters a little bulky after a while. I decided to go with them mainly because it saved me having to work on it myself. I'm having mine done in paint as opposed to decals so it seemed sensible to keep things simple in terms of outlines etc (Mario does the letter colour then uses decals to mask the correct shapes). And it's the logo above the door so it seemed like the closest thing Winston has to 'branding'!

I always found the decals on my Roberts stuck out of the lacquer a tiny bit too much.
Why does no one make the old-style transfers any more?!

I think if I weren't getting them done in paint I'd join you with the above version - you've done a great job!
