  • I'm wondering about booking something in the New Year on the proviso that it's fully refundable, however I can't think of a way around the insurance issue - if the country in question is on the FCO "no travel" list then insurance won't be valid. Hell of a roll of the dice to bet on France being off the list for the correct period. Also assuming that the current moratorium on travel in lockdown #2 would be lifted for Christmas and shortly beyond.

  • then insurance won't be valid.

As somebody who has racked up a £15k medical bill in a skiing accident (insurance paid), this gives me the heebie jeebies.

  • http://www.battleface.com do insurance for places on the No Travel list. We bought a policy for a trip to South America in December (since had to cancel anyway cos borders unlikely to be open)

It includes Winter sports cover as long as you are under 71, but you'd have to check what that means in practice (eg offpiste, freestyle etc) .

Our cover was about £65 each for a 3 week trip.

  • I'm just holding on and if it's possible, even late season, I'll book something/drive, rock up somewhere in france. Not going to book anything just now though.
