  • Hey guys. Bought a wall mount on here, advertised as unused but came without the plugs/screws and instructions.

It needs 2 screws and has to be mounted into a wall stud but this is my first time putting one up. Any specific requirements on type, size and depth of screws I need to make sure I hit? Do I need to make sure I use a wall plug also or is screwing directly into studs ok?

    Any help appreciated!

  • If you're screwing into wooden studs, then you just use a wood screw and no wall plug - it will go through the plasterboard and hold in the wood. All the mounts I've ever had have used fairly chunky screws with a countersink head - guess they'll be M5 or M6? Length will depend on the size of the studs, which are usually 2"x4", so 100mm deep; I'd guess anything between 70 and 100mm should work.

  • Happy with this?

  • haven't got them up yet! May have one up today, will report back...

  • Does anyone use a solution for storing/presenting your helmet, shoes, stuff that goes in your pockets? All bikes are hung and other bits tucked away. Basically looking for a bedside table with cycling tax or something I can mount on the wall.

  • Helmets, shoes, Garmins, stuff that goes in pockets es.

  • Quick advice: Asgard 2 bikes box delivered today. We have been told the concrete is not flat enough and we need to build a wood decking under it. Has anyone experienced the same pain?
    I have found this

  • Bikes stick out from the wall too far...

Good for flat bar setups - not great for road bikes

  • Great idea for the Garmins, whacking a mount wherever you want to store them.

  • Have you got a picture?

  • Not great in this light and it’s hard to tell from these pics, can take better ones tomorrow.

To be honest i don’t think the other ones would be any better, and these aren’t bad, it’s just cos they’re in my flat and the space I have isn’t huge. Would be great in a garage

Ive not got the wheel bits up yet

  • I don't think it's that bad as a starting point. If you're able to pack some spacers on the inside of the plate where the pedal hoos you can probably bring it closer a bit (if the pedal axle allows)

  • If you screw a plank to the wall for the tyres to rest against it helps bring it more vertical. And a bit of beading will help keep it level.

  • Digging up an old post here, but just had a quick question: what’s the make of the toolbox?

Been looking through this thread for some inspiration and quite like the look of your setup.

  • Looks like a PRO-TEC to me...

  • thanks, good shout.

  • wouldn't be able to pack spacers - it's tight with those pedals. A wood block under each wheel should do it though. There is a support supplied for the front wheel to keep it straight and bear the load, but it has no thickness to it.

I think i was just going through the initial shock of how imposing it is having a bike on the wall. Have semi got used to it already. I've got 4 bikes to go up though. I need to sort my life out. Intention is to keep them all on the same wall (2 x 2) so that at least the bike mess is confined to one space. And then talk myself into selling two. I wish I had a basement....

  • Can you post a picture of how it looks without the bike up?

  • Not a fat lot to see. They seem nicer than the other ones available

  • There’s also a black bracket for front wheel, for the rear wheel it’s just a black padded sticker just to avoid marking the wall

  • Cheers, was more to understand how much it stick out. I am really concerned I'd stab myself

  • Just shy of 14cm if that helps...
