  • LED non-flourescent tubes. Why have I not used them before? Very instant, much quiet. No more tick-tick-ticking sounds when I go in the garage. And will reduce power consumption from a faintly ridiculous 754W down to 260W.

  • Any more details on these? There’s a tube in my parents’ garage that takes so long to fire that I’ve usually found what I went in for, hit my shin on a towbar, trapped a toe in a mouse trap and made it back into the house before it actually comes on. I would love to do some replacing.

  • I replaced all the old flourescent tubes at the workshop at my old job with the cheapest LED tubes I could find (£5ish a piece) at the local hardware store. Decent colour and worked flawlessly for the remaining year of my time there.

  • These are the ones I've got. They replace a standard 5ft/1500mm flouro tube. Replace the starter with the bypass unit included with the bulb, fit tube, job done. They're pricier than normal flouro tubes, but I reckon they're worth the extra.
