  • Recommendations for a 13mile ish trail run within 90 mins drive (or train) from East London? Had a week booked in Snowdonia to climb, walk and run, so now looking for nice running routes we can get to in a day without a load of travel... Was supposed to be our honeymoon, but serves us right for getting hitched in the middle of a pandemic!

  • Don't forget Epping forest

There is a fell race route of 3 miles which has enough elevation to make it a Cat A race.

I also have routes for a 10 miler and a 15 if you're feeling like going a bit further. It is really nice and muddy at the moment too

  • Will do! That would be great. I've done a few long runs from a tube station in Epping, through the forest and then back down the canal to Hackney, but some more loop routes would be good - the final slog down the Lea is always a bit meh.

Just had the most awkward run of my life... Decided to try a new route from home, and went up to the Leyton/Wanstead Flats - never been before. It was busy on the main paths, so I turned down a little track and into the woods, and right into a lovely clearing full of solitary men, some with their trousers down... I realised what I'd stumbled upon, and tried to take another path out, only to literally bump into a man doing up his flies as another scurried away into the bushes, and then we both got stuck in the mud and I fell over trying to run out... had to run back through the clearing to find a decent path out again – they must've all been so confused. Guess I'll avoid going off piste in that area in the future...

  • I'd be interested in those routes. One gotta love a mud bath... Do you have gpx or something please?
