boris gets on the phone to europe with begging bowl in hand, starts talking up a deal to be done as soon as he realises trump has lost, that's gotta be a blow to his negotiating power, another gamble he's lost and will cost us in the long run

I'm hoping it saves us a worse fate. No more hope for that great American free trade deal that was unlikely ever to happen, or in a way that would benefit us as much as an EU deal in the immediate.

Agreed.

I hope this will keep the door ajar for more EU integration in future, a USA deal will make that much harder.

Business groups already said campaigns to build on thin deal start next year.
