There appears to be a lot of weeding that needs to happen.
Those are wildflowers in November, not weeds!
I think we're all agreed on the sad photo though.

I'm going to try my best this year with the spot I normally give over to long grass.
Good luck! And sorry @Tenderloin 😂
We used wildflower turf. I wouldn't do that again. I would probably use turf with a mix of wild grasses (if that exists) then plug plants of the flowers I wanted, but avoid things with big leaves and anything related to a cabbage.
Ours really didn't like the shadier bits of the garden - it's very south facing but being small with fairly high fences these are a thing.
If you have an established lawn letting it grow long in an area at the back of the garden then adding species using seeds or plugs could work well. Growing with seeds from scratch is very difficult, some species have to lie dormant in the soil for several frosty winters before they think about doing anything.

I always laugh at the fact I've spent longer weighing up the decision to buy a certain jacket or pair of trainers than I did at the 15-20 minute viewings for both of the largest purchases of my life
Yep! I think most people feel the same!

That timber is still ageing and will eventually be a wonderfully natural grey?
Painted timber cladding is awful... natural, stain, or burnt are the only choices!

Yeah, I got the Rightmove ping in my inbox hence the question – it's in our 'oh Jesus why isn't anything coming up let's look a little bit wider' radius, but without a local pub/much else I think it'll be too remote for us. We're going to have to compromise on something soon though, and proximity might be the ticket. Good tip about the bowler, I'll try and keep Rosie at a safe distance.

Such a long week, one of the (five) people who made an offer on our flat is still interested but had stopped looking for a while since ours went off the market in August.
They are meeting with their mortgage broker to check they can still get what they expect, and if so their original offer still stands, which is lower than other offers we had, but we can just about afford our move with it.
Its also back on the market on rightmove etc since Monday but not a single enquiry.
If this previous offerer can't proceed our sellers are going back to market.

Super annoying that we had 3 asking price offers and now going to have to go -10k if we can to keep our place.

it's not too bad, it is just that there is no real 'village' in the deverills. you are going to longbridge or to mere for a pint/coop, etc.
i haven't had a drink in yonks, so the pub thing isn't a big deal for me/sarah.
the bp in longbridge sells chocolate coated brazils, that are the titties...

In the countryside yes but in cities it tends to pick up air pollution and doesn’t acquire the silvery finish (which I agree can be quite attractive).

what are your nursery/primary plans? in-laws and driving?

My wife can actually visualize rooms, so she just drew the layouts on paper.
I can't, so I had to model the kitchen (very badly) in SteamVR to get a sense of scale. That is free, but probably only worthwhile if you also have VR and are as spatially-challenged as me. You can still look at the 2D renders, but I'm sure there are easier ways of building those.

The boy wonder is at the learning meadow, an outdoor nursery in crockerton. We are looking at schools at the moment, local, so def driving
Sarah and I will be both wfh at least two days a week, so we should be able to cover it with the in laws.

Are they EKENÄSET from Ikea or something a bit more up market?
-
• #38346
I use sketchup, but still can't visualise and have in the past also resorted to card models, plasticine and in one memorable case building a life size mockup of a bathroom in the living room out of masking tape, chairs and blankets.
This was the kitchen....

Nice! That's probably quicker than trying to set up reasonable lighting and figure out how I broke the normals in one wall, in a program I'd never used before.
Still, I had a couple of structural walls in the way, so it helped me. You do need an expensive headset for it to work, though, unless you can view it on a smartphone.

Should we ask Dave for a sub-forum?
Deverill Valley Dadbikes and Estate Cars?
That looks nice, congrats
