• 11-32 cassettes are plenty enough, 11-36 maximum for steep stuff

    I mean that's just bollocks.

Is it? I've gotten up (miserably) a 25% incline on 42-32 and only spun out approaching 50kmh on 42-11. On the road this is like. People on here always moan about their equipment when a few years ago they'd have been told to HTFU :)

    inb4 shit fixie skidders say

  • Was that blissful tarmac in the middle of the summer or ankle deep mud in winter? You know, gravel can be a lot of things these days.

Also, I think @hippy statements are always based on a loaded bike a week deep into an endurance event.

  • I've shamefully got a 42t cassette on my real gravel bike but it's not really necessary

  • MTBs are coming out with 50T+ for a reason right? 32T might be fine for a 1hr ride on bridleways but some of us ride rougher stuff, longer stuff, carry stuff, yada yada and I was always the person that laughed at Compacts. I've just got fucking older matured.
