I agree, that's exactly the kind of thing that comes to mind when I see those photos. I just thought (based on no knowledge of fancy house selling or photography), that they could make an effort to make it look less like that instead of more. The shed and decking here are 4 years old, but have a bit of colour to them still.

That timber is still ageing and will eventually be a wonderfully natural grey?
Painted timber cladding is awful... natural, stain, or burnt are the only choices!

Seems like Modern House just don't know how to photograph exterior timber without making it look a bit fucked. The same grey look can be seen on the link shared in the Architecture thread
