  • With the nice bonus that most of those, unlike people in cars, are slower than you and won't catch you.
    I never yell at horses, way too scared of those.
    @giofox if they have noise cancelling you can yell quite a lot, in my experience.

  • That’s the plan Ed. Big fat tyres on there ! I did test ride one at Evans cycles a few years back and it was plush.

  • Is there a forum preferred choice for brake fluid for for the Arkose?

    Evans website seems to no longer have descriptions for the bikes which seems odd. So I can't tell what fluid they come with standard.

  • Depends on your type of brakes, Shimano - mineral
    Sram- DOT5.1

  • Just buy some brake stuff, shimano ideally but finishline and others have all worked fine for me in the past, supposedly have additives to keep everything inside working well and help with heat that baby oil won't.

  • I've had the same big bottle of Shimano fluid for a couple of years and am barely half of the way through it despite letting mates use it for their bleeds/fills. I think mine cost under 20e

  • I’ve had one for a few years. Great for touring and commuting and light gravel use. If it’s wet and off road I destroy brake pads and I can only fit 38c with mini v’s (28c/30c with ‘guards) YMMV

    Bike fluids - massively over priced, a litre of dot 5.1 from the motoring section of Halfords is hardly more than 100ml from the cycling section, and it's the same when it comes to suspension, the high-end stuff motorbike stuff is hardly more than the basic bike stuff.

  • I had a very long conversation at the bike shop today on how I can convert my new Ti frame to a 1x di2 setup with all my old road di2 parts. Turns out it’s gonna cost a shit ton so gonna stick the 2x setup and just have carbon 650b instead - any had any experience with the TRP hylex and di2 climbing shifters adaptation?

  • How would switching from 2x to 1x cost more other than a new chainring?

  • New wider cassette, getting the rear derailleur to fit that new cassette, new chain? Still doesn't seem so much

  • Because di2 is crazy prices - rear di2 GRX mech, double wide ring and ultegra spider adapters, new cassette would be best solution but cost £350+

    I can happily not go with the XD driver and giant chainring for the massive range as I’m just not that bothered about that side of things

    I could get an adapter for the current ultegra di2 but a basic cassette, ultegra compatible chain and ring alone is £180

    Along with the fact it will need a new t47 bb anyway, my current bike is post mount and the new frame is flat mount so got to fork out for new calipers (adapter won’t clear the frame) and I’m going to get the neater bar end di2 controller, wires and stuff I want to keep additional costs to a minimum.

    Decided just keeping 2x means I just need the new post mount calipers and di2 controller to transplant the parts . I can always move to 1x when this cassette and chain wear out
