Hopefully Parkrun is big enough to survive.

Interesting. I'm guessing EfM is cancelled now but no word from the organisers yet. Still tapering with the aim of doing something big that day so this might fit the bill!
Edit: Just seen this page: https://escapefrommeriden.co.uk/efm-moved-to-2021/.

Recommendations for a 13mile ish trail run within 90 mins drive (or train) from East London? Had a week booked in Snowdonia to climb, walk and run, so now looking for nice running routes we can get to in a day without a load of travel... Was supposed to be our honeymoon, but serves us right for getting hitched in the middle of a pandemic!

Have you got a link to it?
I could pack the bumbag with more stuff to stop my phone moving but seems pretty pointless

Anyone got any tips for improving that inner grit you need when pushing. I seem to have lost it lately with no races coming up, the moment I feel I need to cling on for a bit I give up when in reality it’s probably just a small period of pain I need to push through.

I like this. It’s a great idea but it’s not for me. I prefer things to be around my waist

Find a type of pushing you find fun:
-challenging terrain?
-hills?
-less structured efforts (fartlek)?
-weight vest? Also an intermediate, achievable goal helps me, like a recent (last 6 months/quarter/whatever makes it acheivable) pb

Sounds shit, I also hate that kind of injury time where you just have to wait things out.

I have one of these - you need a safety pin through the return on the belt loop so it doesn't undo but with that fitted it's perfect.

Hills are a great shout actually, I haven’t been doing them as much the past month or so now it’s getting darker in the evening. I’ll dig the head torch out and head to some trails over the next few nights.
I think chasing PB is probs not great for me as when I see I’m off pace my head drops and I just give in at the moment I’ve been trying to avoid looking at my watch lately and trying to get into the flow. PBs will be getting destroyed in the new year hopefully.

Also interested in this.
Ran my first 30km on Monday. It was a little more off-trail than I had bargained for, but I think the soft ground helped my legs make the distance.
With around 750m of climbing, it felt pretty hefty compared with my 20km runs around Hackney Marshes.

It's getting cold here (not actually cold yet but cold in comparison to a month or so ago!) and I got quite chilly running last night. I want to treat myself to a new long sleeve top, but the problem is that I'm so incredibly sweaty that inevitably it just becomes a cold damp thing stuck to my body. Is there a solution? A magical wicking fabric that sucks all the water away from me, allowing me to not end up shivering on the metro home? Ideally it would have very long sleeves and would be black. I promise I'll still wear shorts.

I sweat a lot but feel the cold. I think what works best for me is a base layer that is thin but still well insulating. My favourite is a Helly Hansen base layer or perhaps consider merino wool?

arm warmers?

Merino base layer
Edit - Oops philpub beat me to it

Can also recommend the helly hansen base layer.

HH do a twin layered synthetic/merino top that I wear over a lightweight synthetic base layer which I get on well with, look at their Lifa Merino range. Not cheap but I have two which have lasted me through several winters. The merino layer has worn out under the arms on one of them but I still wear it loads.

Does anyone have any recommendations for maximally cushioned/supportive running shoes? I try to run 3-4 times a week for general fitness, mostly 30 mins intervals on a treadmill with one longer run outside. Due to various accumulated injuries and half-arsed rehab - (ACL reconstruction, ruptured hamstring etc) I tend to get really bad niggles and pains when I try to move to a higher proportion of road running. Clearly lockdown is not good for my access to treadmills. I looked at hiring them but my flatmate was not so keen on it dominating the lounge. I've currently got some new-ish mid-range asics, but I'd love not to lose all my fitness over this lockdown so any suggestions for the bounciest of running shoes would be much appreciated!
ps - I do know that I should probably try and deal with my repeat niggling injuries through seeing a proper physio, analysing my gait etc and getting custom insoles etc but I don't have time, for my health - and mental health - I just want to get out and run 4 times next week without falling to bits.

I swear by hoka one one, I usually buy their clifton model for road running and absolutely love them.

+1 Hoka Clifton, my new favourite shoes since discovering them in the Summer. Lots of cushioning but great combination of a smooth and stable ride. Just really comfy, and not too heavy either.
Where possible yeah, but standing desk at home and then looking after a 9 month old make those moments of an elevated foot and ice few and far between.
It’s getting there but slowly slowly and I’m turning into a grumpy arse who’s horrible to live with. Will work on the latter and running can wait.
