Someone in admin at our office works Mon,Tues,Wed. On a on Monday morning she gets in at 10:00 and starts with the most recent email first (she actually prints them off In a large pile and works from the top) once she has done this she starts on that week but this might take her two days.
This means that some emails take weeks to be answered. The knack is to judge the exact point on a Monday morning when she has got a cup of tea and had a gossip, then send your email so it’s top of the printed pile.
Send it one second too late and it will not be printed for a few days.Unfortunately everyone in the company has now worked this out and she gets over 100 emails between 10:15 and 10:20
my old boss used to work through their inbox from the bottom up, in sequence. which meant you would sometimes get a reply to something 2 weeks later, after it had long been sorted/moved on, and because they were the boss, it sometimes created more confusion at that point.
