  • Can the Edelux 2 power a B&M rear light, or is it their own one only? I seem to remember there being something about them being DC.

Also the cable looks hardwired, anyone ever tried replacing it? (thinking about the inevitability of deciding I want it on a different bike in a few years)

  • The Edlux has no issue with a B&M, done it a few times. You can always trim a wire and splice in quick connections.

  • Edelux II works with B&M; think it's the Exposure lights that only work with their own. I just spiral the cable up the fork leg to leave me with enough slack for future changes, but IIRC SON will repair/replace cables for a fee (and offer a 5-year guarantee against failure anyhow).

Re. IQ-X, it's available for ~£75 at the moment, which makes it the best bang for the buck powerful light at the moment; the IQ-XS is 70% of the light for about half the price (from Germany at least), so more than adequate for town use. The IQ-X can be mounted upside down as well, which is nifty. The Edelux II has better build quality and warranty, and is prettier, but whether that's worth the extra £50 probably depends on how much of a bike tart you are...
