  • It's an aluminium Vitus but I hadn't thought about damage from sweat. Having seen the video demonstration of roller crashes I think I'm either back to cycling the streets for exercise or looking at the fixed trainers. I don't have enough safe space to be falling over in.

  • Did you really watch that closely? Virtually all the spills looked harmless and as tester said, if you're close to a wall when you're learning the chances of falling over are almost nil.

  • My problem is the spaces I could fit one in are full of stuff that would have various different poor outcomes if I fell on it. I'll just go out and ride or run, its easier than adapting my rooms so I can fall over in them! I get what you're saying though, the risk of serious injury is not that huge, probably less than riding round central London.

I'm nursing an elbow injury at the moment so I've cut back on work but it's left me needing some exercise because I like beer :) I had been riding the bikes at the gym and that would have been enough.

Thanks for the encouragement and answers though. I like the idea of the fancy setups but not worth it for a short period of time and I'm normally cycling all over the place for work as well as having a physical job so aerobic exercise takes care of itself.
