Utterly grim. So sad. His poor family.
Respect the mountains.

Yup x4.

I couldn't resist at that price despite not being able to run. They are in the mudclaw kind of territory, look good on first impressions.

Any tips for overcoming what I think is achilles tendonitis?
This started summer 2019 when I was trying to improve my 5k time, started noticing the pain as I upped the pace and then at the end of August I ran the Serpentine 5k (21:11) and was hobbling after the finish line.
Didn't run for ages and gradually picked it back up again at the start of lockdown, I changed shoes from Nike Pegasus 33s to Nike React Infinity and these seemed to be a game changer; felt a bit slower but infinitely more comfortable and no sign of achilles pain. Kept running on and off through the summer, never really doing more than 2-3 runs a week and total of 20-25kms per week. Fast forward to a month ago and the pain is back. Hillier route around Greenwich Park probably has something to do with it.
Anyway, I've been doing calf raises (both straight and bent leg) and plenty of calf, hamstring and quad stretches. Not really sure if there's anything else I should be doing?

I’m in this situation. Sometimes the pain is there, sometimes not. Generally at first when I start running, then seems to go.
Have been doing small runs and lots of calf raises. But this dull ache never seems to subside

Definitely very achey first thing in the morning as well. I'm signed up to do the Royal Parks Half in April (whether that actually goes ahead is anyone's guess) so would like to start training with some degree of confidence that it won't 'go' again.

Search back a few pages and there’s a massive discussion about AT.

Thank you, exactly what I was looking for. Better off hanging up running shoes for this year and doing all the necessary strength/recovery work. Thankfully no pain at all on the bike.

My doesn’t “go” it just aches. Sometimes it feels like it’s burning

I’d be interested to know what you think about the fit. They advise to buy a size above.
I also have really narrow and shallow feet.

They feel true to size for me. They're not as wide as inov8 standard fit. Unfortunately this means my insoles might not help much as they may make them a squeeze, need to test this.
Fwiw I have often found sizing up gives shoes longer but not really feeling much wider.

I thinking I’m gong to get some. Annoyingly one of my feet is a 10. The other is closer to 10.5
I think these will be a good winter runner. For that price they’re almost disposable

@BringMeMyFix and a few others gave me some advice maybe back in May/June time. I got specific physio advice and worked on S&C.

From what I’ve been told, calf raises that are straight and bent legged, slowly up and slowly down. Also rest days between runs. I’ve been suffering from it and it’s very frustrating.
Would recommend a physio. Mine has been really good with it.

Cheers @Tenderloin and @jackc. I'll see how I get on over the course of the next 6 weeks or so and if no meaningful progress then it'll be physio time.

My leg still fucking hurts.
Have done the typical male thing of doing absolutely nothing about it but it’s recovering way slower than I’d thought.
Even the skin hurts, which is super weird.

Have you rested it for the last week?

Tens machine?

Can someone recommend me a running pack/bumbag thing. Needs to be big enough for phone and key but really flat and not bounce up and down, like my current one.
-
• #23849
Personally I like flipbelts - fit phone/keys and they’re really comfy, don’t bounce or chaff. I just got a new one and wouldn’t really consider anything else.

I've ordered one of these but haven't got it yet to say whether its actually any good or not but. I've got 3 running bumbags and they all move around too much once you put a heavy phone inside. This certainly looks like it should do the trick 🤞
