Their connector link is made with a different material than the rest of the chain and corrodes very easily.

Recently had subpar shifting when using a Sram 1130 with a CS-HG700-11 (11-34) cassette, while it worked well with the CS-R7000 (11-32).. Not sure why

Cheers. The last couple I bought were £17 off ebay. I only look when I need them, then buy 2-4 of them at whatever the cheapest price I find is.

Lots of reason for this, chain if it haven’t been changed for new cassette, chain might be a gnat too short, b-screw. As well as upper and lower limiter, derailleur hanger could be slightly out, etc.

I was just talking like for like here. I had a 11-34 with a HG601 chain, swapped both cassette and chain going for 11-34 (same cassette but new) and PC1130. Everything else was the same, hence why I couldn't explain it.

Technically the Shimano chain work best with Shimano cassette, ultimately it’s hard to tell sometimes.
-
• #13635
Yeah, came to the same inconclusive conclusion, but KMCs are good
-
• #13636
If you can't tell the difference, then the cheaper option is the better product.
-
• #13637
I always have used a mix of Shimano/SRAM and sometimes KMC in cassettes and chains. Never had any problem other than my own indexing. If anything I'd say the expensive chains are good right out of the box and the cheaper ones feel a bit rough at the beginning, regardless of brand.

Arkose D3 ... Does it have routing for dynamo cables?
For posterity: @hippy was correct and six separate Evans employees are incorrect.
Shout out to my man Graham at Reading Evans for the hard facts.
The Arkose D3 does have the fork leg routing and rear light routing. It has rubber grommets at the headtube and the back end of the toptube. I think they’re for 6mm round Shimano grommets (like those used for Di2).
The X had routing too, the D1 doesn’t.

The cheap ones have a fork with alloy column, maybe that's the difference.
-
• #13640
If only they still sold the forks separately
