no, those are the 650b wheels in question, they came with those 38 slicks, but i'd like to go for knobblies
-
• #228
Ahh. Have you tested what the max 650 clearance is at the back?
-
• #229
looks like 42 will be the max
-
• #230
WTB resolute?
-
• #231
that could well be the ticket
-
• #232
Noice! Is that an Omminun cxc-fork?
-
• #233
no it's an alloy/carbon bontrager with carbon round blades and alloy straight steerer. bontrager satellite
-
• #234
Aha! I have one of those in silver. Didn't know there was a blck version as well
-
• #235

Nothing against the fixed MTB's on here but that to me ticks the tracklocross box rather well.
What fork is that and what clearance does it have please?
-
• #238
Yeah, it's super fun to shred trails but also stupidly stiff that I wish it would fit even fatter tyres.
I honestly don't know what fork it is but it clears 30mm nobbie tyres. The rear could take 35mm I think

Thanks! I'm not sure anymore, but they are about the cheapest Schwalbe CX tyres

That clearance is nowhere near enough. Ride that through this winter and your fork will be ruined come spring. I say that from experience with a ruined fork from running a similar clearance where dirt and grit ground down the fork on both sides between edge of tyre and fork.

• #243
have you thought about 650b for this?
-
• #244
this gives me the spark to get out an ride
-
• #245
That point has been passed a long time ago. Even my road fork doesn't have any paint left on the crown. But that's the best I can do right now ¯_(ツ)_/¯
-
• #246
Nope, but I don't think the frame can fit more than 35mm. Also there aren't many 1 1/8" forks for fat tyres
-
• #247
no but you can get hold of cheap 1 1/8th CX cantilever forks pretty easily, and maximise what tyres can be fitted at the rear. I have just done so on my pompino

Jumping in on this as I'm on the hunt for a winter fork for the Dart. It's finding something around 375 a-c is proving tricky. Similar to @bibimbap I might be able to squeeze a 35c on the back but realistically a 32c would be safer. Most CX forks i'm seeing are closer to 400 a-c which is far taller than I'd want/need.

Basically I want cheap Whisky 7's

What about a big block fork if you went steel? Or is it tapered?
Nice!
Is it 700c? Was it something else you were looking for 650b tyres for?
Edit: @Glws
