Fair points. I think it's only happened once to that extent, to usually when I'm in a hurry to get out the door, drop the wheel for whatever reason and... Shit. I've never quite worked out a way to make them impervious to water ingress, though in truth it's never caused me problems from memory. The current solution is sugru to smooth the join and wrap in gorilla tape. Just thought there might be a better alternative I'm missing (like the fancy son coaxial connectors).
@hippy are you saying the SP connection is fairly loose? The shimano seems a bit stubborn at times which would be a bastard with cold hands and a puncture to fix.
Yeah, my SP ones always just disconnected when I dropped the wheel out after forgetting the dynamo (which was always because I was too busy swearing at the puncture to think about two stage wheel removals).
