I ended up being referred to the executive team complaints. They were shit too
Virgin customer service is fucking terrible but in most places they're the only place offering fast broadband.
I found complaining on the forums got you far better customer service than phoning up some fuckwit.
Also bear in mind you get compensation for every day late on the installation and each appointment missed with less than 24 hours notice. I ended up pretty much getting the first three months free.
