Love that roof / ceiling curve.

Extension ceiling envy.

Thanks both, that curve actually causes some instagram beef between architects! It was quite funny...
-
• #3181
looking good...
I'm a nosey basturt so hunted down the project page - when does phase 2 start ? ; )
and do you have a higher fence at the right side now (i.e. where the bench is)?
-
• #3182
I’m up for a laugh, care to share the link?
Does the curve go all the way up to the ceiling?
-
• #3183
Ha, good detective work... yeah phrase 2 doesn't exist, classic architect speak.
Phase 1 + 2 = everything we wanted
Phase 1 = everything we could actually afford.I'm prob going to try and do the bathroom myself...
-
• #3184
Can you share more details of this beef pls
-
• #3185
Ahhhh it was on insta somewhere... basically these lads claiming they owned curved ceilings in a passive aggressive manner due to this project: https://b-vds.co.uk/projects/ogee-house/ @amey
The curve is just on the corner really, prob about 50cm of vert before you hit the glass, there is the same curve on the worktop (you can just about see it in that pic) and the wall in the middle room with the utility room and cloakroom, oddly they didn't many get pics of that.

lmao better get it squared off before BVDS come knocking
seems like a good idea to stop occlusion of the light that comes in from the side return skylight plus it's a lovely feature

@cozey was it you who was discussing light switches? Looking for some reccos to replace some of the ugly switches we have. @6pt or @chrisbmx116 feel like this might be something you have thoughts on

Cross posting from diy thread. Spent the weekend painting the bathroom with Bauwerk lime paint. It was previously all white walls, tiles, etc etc looked very clinical. We’re re-doing the bedroom when we start work on the remodel so don’t want to spent money doing much to it until then. I really like this paint and it’s quite fun to use. Some of the angles were a little tricky but pleased with the result. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for that slightly textured finish. I also have 5 litres of beech which I could sell at half price 😂

yes - I like the jung group LS990 which come in a range of colours
https://www.instagram.com/p/B-b2GMvCwA9/
https://www.instagram.com/p/B7-0vxsJ9ff/but as I said before, I've never been able to figure out exactly what I need to buy e.g. one switch is made up of: wall switch, frame, single wall switch insert and wall box. do I need to buy all of those separately who knows... I've got a headache thinking about it again
available here if you want to have a go at figuring it out https://www.swtch.co.uk/product/ls990-white-switch/
or, fancy (expensive!) colour versions: https://www.swtch.co.uk/lescouleurs/

I think @dbr had found some good screwless faceplate jobbies. I've got the Jung LS990 on my 'hmm' list much like @cozey, but they've been quite pushy on the instagram lately so maybe that's why. Here we've got some white/white+black ones from Dowsing and Reynolds. I'd got half of them in and then they arbitrarily doubled their prices causing much grumbling to finish the set. Also, they're crap and I hate them. Small exaggeration, but the finishing on them really isn't great.
e: I saved the @dbr recommendation when I saw it because I'm a massive loser. These ones.
Bauwerk have been hitting me pretty hard on the 'gram too, but it looks good. Likely appropriate for our next place if we ever find somewhere to move to.

😂 excellent - we’re clearly all in the same Facebook targeting pool
Yeah he linked me to some nice screwless usb jobbies and I had those saved too! For that price they seem a safe bet.
I was going to go for these: https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/SF9224MBB.html
For either side of the bed. Is black a bad choice? -

I would look at white MK like these :- https://www.screwfix.com/p/mk-essentials-13a-2-gang-sp-switched-socket-2-4a-2-outlet-usb-charger-white-with-colour-matched-inserts/434ht
Kensington stuff is OK but I would trust MK to have a more reliable transformer in them. Unless your walls are really dark white would probably look better. Are the sockets not going to be covered up?

Anybody else like these vintage slave clocks? Taken from ships of all kinds as they're disassembled in India and re-sold on ebay/etsy.

White sockets!
One of our Knightsbridge sockets failed so going for a potentially more reliable option is a good idea. My wife hates the red on the top of the switch on most sockets which is why she found those Knightsbridge ones.
The Knightsbridge switches are good. Very simple and nice matte painted finish. The feel of the switch is good too. I don’t like Schneider etc as they all seem to have a gross border around the switch.

Yes - interesting shape case, that one. And I like the blue/naval grey too. But it makes me smart about the time I thought I’d picked up a nice Gents station-type clock on the bay, only to turn up in Leicestershire to pick it up and the fella tell me he’d “only just realised what these things were worth” and flogged it to some antiques type for cash before I got there.

Pretty much same page as everyone else.
I’m trying to be a bit sympathetic to original features so went with Dowsing and Reynolds as they are similar to the baker lite switches that may have been used when electrics were first put in. Their flush screwless sockets look great. There is Buster and Punch too but they are a bit try hard I live in west london and I like the idea of east london but not all the poor people and bicycles.

lol. You should be a copywriter.
Plain colours look quite cool
But the "Rock'n Roll" ones will have a 4yr lifespan max before all the bankers' wifes find something else on Pintrest
Google led me to these guys who have one of the best upselling tag lines I've seen. Pretty sure it's taken from DJ's family coat of arms.

Looks lovely BTW.
Perfect gap between the roof and drainpipe box thingy.
