  • prime video has always pissed me off as an offering. mostly because what was lovefilm originally cost about £40 a year for the basic package. then they rolled it into the prime subscription, put the price up by £40 and tried to tell me I was getting it for free out of the kindness of their own hearts rather than being forced to buy it or lose my other prime benefits.

and their insistence on trying to be both a subscription based platform and a platform that rents/sells content making neither of the options appealing which forces them to hamstring functionality in the name of trying to force people into unnecessary purchases.

even with prime I still download most of the shows over usenet and watch them through my media setup instead just to avoid that shitshow of an app.

I cant imagine how annoying it must be to have kids using prime on the family telly where there's a risk they might buy a fucking box set of some show that aired 10 years ago and you have to remortgage to pay for it.

  • I ended up just setting up a payment pin because explaining that the Prime app has a whole variety of stuff that may or may not be free but it isn't that obvious either way was too much of a faff.

Although the most annoying thing I find is that Up Next or whatever it's called isn't front and centre. If I want to watch the next episode of what I was watching I have to hunt around to find it for some reason.
