Cheers. I have access to the coax splitter so I can rejig it so the living room socket can become the input easy enough.
Looking at probably 2 or 3 rooms. Is reliable wireless HDMI a thing now? Needs to go 30 or 40 feet through a couple of brick walls.

Ah, I see. I should have spelled it out, then.

On this forum, if I edit a pm a couple of days after I sent it, does it edit the message at the recipient’s end as well as mine?

I've picked up an 11-34, so a 14- and a 16- to replace the 11- and 13-
will be a bit cheaper than a whole new casette.I think you’ve got to be careful mixing and matching cogs these days. The tooth profile is designed specifically for the chain to catch the gear either side of it, so for example the 16T in a 12-25 is different to the one in the 11-32 because it has different gears either side. They only work as a set.

Is anyone using any long hdmi cables? I can't find a media unit to fit my gaming pc and amplifier. I could relocate the pc but I'd need a 5+m hdmi cable. The internet, as ever, has mixed opinions on whether this will work.
Alternatively does any know of a semi custom supplier of furniture?

• #105057
This is not a factor that I had considered.

if long HDMI doesn't work, you can convert the signal to ethernet and run long runs over that. Not sure if it would introduce lag if you are gaming etc.

A different problem caused me to change a chain ring yesterday.
Moving front derailleur down the seat tube,
resetting tension in fd cable,
adjusting hi/lo screws,
all took much longer than swapping cassettes. -
• #105061
I wasn't thinking about how long it took tbh, just that you could do it then stick with regular cassettes in the future, depends on your cranks and what you're already running really.

They work best as a set. They're still going to shift better than old non-relieved sprockets even when slightly mismatched.

Yes.
And you can always edit things.
However, a full and complete history of all edits of all private messages is retained until all parties to the message (sender and all recipients) have deleted it.
So if you think there's been anything illegal or dodgy, then it is technically possible for me to verify the history of messages.
I have never had to do this, not even when I've worked with police to ensure convictions for bike thieves... but it is possible by virtue by my accessing the server and using the applications secrets to read the messages directly from the database.

Further... a full and complete history of all edits of all public posts also exists in that database.
Which reminds me that I may be able to recover 100GB of disk space if I just get around to nuking it all.
At least the PMs will be nuked from disk when they're deleted by everyone who had access to them.

Might be worth having a ‘clean you inbox day’ if it’ll free up space on the LFGSS systems?

Maybe a weird one. I recently passed my driving test, but don't have a car or really any reason to drive. But I'd like to keep driving rather than let my recent efforts lapse. I thought one option could be to try to find some sort of volunteer work that requires driving about. I've been doing some meal delivery (on foot/bike) and they need drivers, but don't provide cars. I suspect this is probably the case in most/all volunteer situations, but just in case: Anyone know of any groups looking for drivers and provide the vehicle?
-
• #105067
Congratulations on passing your test! It's a bit of a truism that you really learn how to drive after your test, so it's not a bad idea to keep your hand in. That said, do you think that driving a vehicle provided by an organisation is the best idea for a very inexperienced driver? Does it serve their purposes well? Are you the best person to provide that service for them? Your bike skills are probably of more value to them.

All true, I'm sure. But my question was about helping out in cases where the need for help exists. If such a case does exist, then yeah, I'd say it does serve their purposes.

I'll proceed with mis-matched sprockets.
(I'll leave an instruction for my Executors to notify the Forum of fiery death). -
• #105071
My new chainsaw instructions are a bit vague on petrol - seems I can use either leaded or unleaded. So presumably I should go for unleaded? (which is what the car uses, so there will be synergies there)

It's the history of edits to public posts that takes space... and storage is so cheap that it's not an issue.
My motivation to delete it is purely the potential performance benefit, but the database schema is such that it shouldn't be an issue.

I’m no help with your question, but I think it’s a good idea to keep the driving up. I passed my test, went to the US, drove there for 2 month, then came home and didn’t drive for 10 years. It felt pretty sketchy that I was legally able to jump in a car and drive off after so long.

If you are just a hobbyist buy alkylated ready mix 2 stroke. It doesn’t go off like normal petrol. It’s more expensive but isn’t full of so much nasty shit, smells much less offensive and you can leave it in the tank without needing additional preservative.
If you are mixing 2 stroke yourself use unleaded.

That’s good to know. I just took some personal details out of a pm when a sale fell through. Obviously that information could still be with the recipient if they had email notifications on.
I was tired and it appeared to be Greek to me. The precised explanation was precisely what I required for my addled brain.
