How much is a parking ticket likely to be in Camden?

Colleague needs 3 hours tomorrow and the nearest car park we can reserve is miles of walk away. There's a 2 hour bay outside. If we get a ticket what's the damage (presume 50% within a period of time?)

Good thinking. Thanks. Not that I want to make a habit of it but if it comes to it that’s an option at least.

A tip I would give is to release the spring of the side you want to adjust, so the pad is pushed against the MSW. Makes adjusting very easy.

Another tip is to release both springs, that way you’re not fighting the system.

Release springs, remove and replace one pad, hold down the brake lever with one hand, align and tighten the pad with the other. If the pad becomes misaligned on the rim when you tighten (they usually do), loosen the pad a bit, realign, hold down the brake lever and tighten the pad finger tight, then use your braking hand to hold the pad in place and cinch it down. Repeat for other side.

I just tighten the adjuster at the brake or lever, snug the shoes against the rim and then back off the adjuster. Slightly different process if I need to have them toed in.

Cheers all. Now to decide whether to go tool-less or stick with the nuts and inevitable knuckle-skinning that seems to happen with those shelving units.

Do contactless bank cards (HSBC in particular) need use with the PIN at regular intervals otherwise the contactless function stops working? I've had two cards which appear to have stopped working, I haven't used with PIN for a long time.

If you use either more or fewer than two, it will stop working.

If you have a 12T wheel when you should have had an 11T, use it in the lower position. It won't affect the shifting, but it will slightly reduce parasitic losses.

That's definitely a thing, but you should get a prompt on the terminal to insert your card and enter your PIN, not just a straight fail.

Yeah, I got caught out a while ago. You have a contactless credit limit, £100/£150? Which needs re-upping by entering your PIN now and again, depending upon your spend.

It'll explicitly ask you to do Chip+Pin to reactivate contactless. If you're using it somewhere that doesn't do Pin (e.g. tube ticket gate) it usually keeps working.

Yep. Anti fraud set up, only happens to my HSBC cards. Not sure what the interval is, it seems to be completely random.
