Hah! I'm in the same boat (well, it's a Mk2 not a Mk3!) but with no immediate plans to buy one. Keep us posted if you do!

Actually planning on buying this exact rack for my MX5 next time I need to take a bike somewhere - if anyone could reassure me that it's fine, that would be great...
Looks great, should work on my MGB.
Have you got a link?

You'll need a plate and light board from the look of it.

Look for the Saris Bones (tm).

Boom. Turns out there’s a second, almost invisible ring for the fader behind the balance/volume knob. Twist for volume, pull out for balance l/r and the tiny ring for fade. Turned it, problem solved.
Nice one!

I go through scenarios like this constantly. Ideally the first vehicle is useful so the second vehicle will get occasional use. If It's a fun car then Mk1/Mk2 MX5 or Clio 182, as pretty much everyone else suggested would probably be the pick of the bunch. A slightly left of centre choice would be something more obscure like an Alfa 145 Cloverleaf as I've always loved the look of them.
If I wasn't going down that route I'd love to buy a cheap van and convert it into a bit of a low budget adventure mobile.

My apologies, they have some
Galvanised bits, not ally. Although some have ally bonnets I think. -

156 Busso could be fun just for the noise. They drive quite nicely too.

Now a 145 is interesting choice, and one that I agree with.
Boxer or twin spark?

No need to apologise, only know the A8 and A2 were all aluminium from adverts and liked the A2..

I've got a 182 and would never want it as my main driver; got the 95% depreciated german barge for that.
Its loud, cramped and very much a tin-box but its brilliant fun to drive so very happily keep it is a second car. You can pick up a good one for £2k and have £1k left over to spend on track days and track day upgrades/consumables.

Can I have links to these £2k Clio 182s? How big is the boot with the back seats down?

A V6 Alfa would tick the sound box. My uncle had a 147 GTA a few years ago and it sounded incredible.
Has to be a 145 for me as I love how weirdly box they are. Parts of it remind me of the SZ.
For me it would probably be the TS @lynx but mainly because it was the more obvious performance version.

The 182s seem to have jumped in price a bit but I wouldn't be scared of higher mileage cars as long as the maintenance record stacks up. I bought mine mid-2019 for £1,200 with 130k miles. It was well maintained and the most comprehensive service history I've had on any car I've owned.
Boot (with seats down) is big enough for two bikes with front wheels off and two blokes up front.

take the back seats out and fit knockoff three point racing harness, surely?

Been wafting around Wiltshire today in the DS - took off the hub caps for the time being as going to paint the wheels black. Pallas embellishers need putting on the body too.
Sun roof needs some attention too but it’s lots of fun👍
