  • Varonha did this for me nearly two years ago and I haven't fitted it yet! Shame on me!

  • Still not fitted?! Did you ask for the French point or was it de rigueur?

  • Turns out children take a lot of time so fiddling with bicycles is a luxury... Also this is part of the full refurb of the Varonha bike not just swapping the stem so that's another excuse...

    C'est quoi le french point?

  • The pointy bit that goes over the clamp, although that might just be Winter cycles that use the term.
Looking forward to see the bike finished!

  • I like the clean positioning of bolts in this design. Many builders have used it. This is by breton.

  • EDIT: Very late to the party, but can confirm Nitto spacers are nice.

  • This is an odball stem from Deda:

The concept didn't really catch on... Planet X was selling the dead stock a few years ago for cheap. (I still haven't used mine as I don't need spacers/spacing on any of my bikes)

  • I've decided I'm going to get some 1 & 1/8" spacers made to nicely match steel stems, will post a thread to gauge interest when I've got some prices.

  • Very nice!

  • I like the idea but why on earth would you locate the slot on the drive side

    makes no sense, does it?

  • Does the On-One Goose Neck qualify? Or is it too weird?

  • Good thread. Was also on hunt for these 1 1/8 spacers but have decided to go back to 1" threaded.

I don't know if this fits the bill. Cinelli Sesamo, I have one for sale. Never installed it, seemed to fall out if live with (90s ) road bikes soon after. I may also have Spianci bars in the same finish. I may even keep it. I always thought the cut through hole could be adapted for a Canti cable. Would work on one of those hens teeth, 1" ahead retro cross frame

  • Another vote for Nitto spacers. I got mine to try and make a 'feature' of this ridiculous stack, and while it's still a bit much it's far nicer than the equivalent black OS alloy.
    Nitto UI-12 stem to match.

All of course entirely inspired by BlueLug.

  • There was an orbea orca stem on eBay last week that would fit the bill

  • Ritchey Chicane

  • This is not so neat (it's about eighty years older) as most of the stems above, but it's essentially a similar idea - a clamp instead of an expander bolt.

  • Not exactly a ahead stem..

  • Ti spacers are usually a smaller diameter than alloy, I've got some eBay ones that match my bullmoose bars well.

  • Thanks!

Hoping to get some pieces of stainless sorted from a framebuilder.

  • Since I got this stem its been slipping in my carbon forks, even with paste. Any tips before I get something else? This thread popped up at the right time.

Pitty since I really like the looks of it. Is it just the fact thats its one bolt or something else? What do you think?

  • you know that's an RRA stem I assume and as such probably worth a packet...
