It’s dark now, but you can see current road conditions on the Stelvio here;

nice, thanks. heard the long-term forecast is favourable so should hopefully get the stelvio this year. doubt they'd ride in 1988 gavia weather these days (which is for the good imo)

I forgot it was a rest day and stuck the highlights on and had really weird deja vu for a moment before I realised they were replaying yesterday's stage.

How’s Bernal doing?

Just finished GW. Such an exciting race, I put it on from the start of the broadcast thinking nothing would be happening and I'd be able to skip forwards but it was non-stop from the cameras being switched on. Pederson so patient at the end, and made short work of the jump across.
WVA MVDP rivalry was funny to watch but a little disappointed with Van Aert's comments afterwards, maybe doesn't quite comprehend how much of a threat everyone else must see him, and that maybe none of the others would have been actually capable of chasing back on in the way that Van Der Poel did. His comments were far more measured.
Great warm-up for Sunday, I'll be getting some beers and food in and watching late into the evening.

Two riders - from Sunweb and Jumbo-Visma - and six staff members - four from Mitchelton-Scott and one each from Ineos and AG2R - positive for Covid-19 after rest days resting at the Giro.

• #27934
Sounds like Kruijswijk is one of the riders.
-
• #27935
Confirmed by the team. He’s had no luck this year, has he?
-
• #27936
Mitchelton-Scott withdraw from the race.
-
• #27937
Disappointing to say the least. One wonders how many other teams will make it to the end
-
• #27938
podium will be:
- vincenzo nibali
- antonio nibali
- DNF
- vincenzo nibali

One wonders when the end will come. If the virus gets a foothold in the peloton then it’s hard to see how they can continue with the race.
-
• #27940
What a disaster. This virus proves to be a nasty enemy if it can even get through to pro teams with their super strict 'bubble' policies. Or could it be that riders infect one another during the race?

on the cycling podcast, they interviewed one of the riders and they were saying that the protocols have been severely lacking at the giro e.g. on one of the first days his team was staying at a hotel, with 5 other teams (! including mitchelton-scott) and members of the public (!!). all feeding from the same buffet/breakfast table. he said this account was backed up by a friend in another team at another hotel with another 5 different teams and members of the public. that's 10 teams whose exposure risk must be pretty high
he was adamant in his belief that that is where yates picked it up

sagan was taking a selfie with a fan the other day ffs
-
• #27943
I'd be very surprised if infections doesn't happen in the peloton during a race
-
• #27944
It hasn't really so far, but no doubt there will be more. 2 riders tested positive, so it follows that there will be more next round of testing. At least 6 more?

• #27945
I feel like it's my fault - I paid for GCN race pass this weekend. Should have known that'd cause the end of racing.
-
• #27946
Bling also tests positive. Sad as he would have had a couple of decent chances this week.
-
• #27947
what happened to good old tiz ? it's working better than ever
-
• #27948
Bling, yatesy, g... All our best mate have left
-
• #27949
Passing/sharing bidons between the team, hugging at the stage end, using the same warm up bikes/massage tables etc,etc - it's bound to.

Rumours that Jumbo-Visma have pulled out of the race.
The new EF kit is working great for getting TV coverage isn't it? @atz
