thanks, how about the standard Shwalbe Marathons? Found them for cheap.
-
• #7678
Depends what kind of riding you're doing.
They'll be lighter and more supple than the GKs. Do you have room for them on the frame, but increase in size over 38.

Any suggestions before I press button on GP5000TL.
Fast and comfy 700x32 TL ready rubber and alternatives?

Are Hutchinson Fusion 5 Performance in 30c size durable enough to serve as all-year tubeless tyre for road riding?
-
• #7681
They seem to be on a par with GP4000SIIs which I'm happy using all year round. They're not going to be a bullet-proof winter tyre, but they look as though they're not waffer-thin racing slicks either.

They’ll fit for sure even with guards. But thats as far as I can go with guards.
I like the GKs they feel fast. But I might just get them to have something to look forward to.

Rising wise its mostly audax with some gravel and the rare off road excursion.

5000tl are old school . We all know they are a inch too small.

What’s new school? Help me out here.

Charlie the Bike Monger with the goodies. I'm going tubeless...

I'm going tubeless
do Grupetto allow this?

I have a pair of these in 38, not going again. Maybe I was unlucky. But one of them has a massive wobble in it. I put it on the front and it's all I can look at, I put it on the rear and people following think my wheel is out. I'll sell them to anyone who wants for less than the price of one.

• #7692
It’s strictly forbidden.
-
• #7693
How come you didn’t send back ?
I’m counting on Charlie the Bikemonger looking after me should there be any bulges.
-
• #7694
Yeah I should have, and maybe still could, bought them start of lock down. Didn't mount them for ages. Put them on a few times to see if it was me just not mounting them right. But nothing is telling me these are better than standard GKs that are much cheaper.

Are there any self-adhesive patches that actually work? I tend to just replace tubes instead of mend them, but I had three flats in rapid succession as I kept finding new pieces of glass in my tyre so I gave the Cordo (Dutch brand) self-adhesive patches I keep in my kit bag as a backup to my backup tube a go, and they lasted somewhere between 10 seconds and 10 minutes. Are the Park Tool patches good? Or the Schwalbe ones? Or should I just go back to bulkier glue-on patches as a backup to my backup?
-
• #7696
carry a rema tip top glue-on set at all times imo
-
• #7697
But the glue tubes always dry out!
-
• #7698
I’ve had no problems with the topeak or lifeline patches. Although the lifeline ones are quite thick. I have been running a lifeline patched tube for the last 1500 miles or so.
-
• #7699
As a rule I always apply pressure on the patches for 2 minutes rather than the 1 they recommend.

Exactly my problem with them.
I found out a local shop has a pair of Rene Herse 700x44 slicks, Snowqualmie Pass. Ive heard good and bad about them. Currently running 38mm GK slicks. Worth the punt? Its the extra light ones.
