If it's parked on a public road you can't SORN it. If it's parked on a public road it also needs to be taxed and insured (as of 2011 when Continuous Insurance Enforcement was brought in).
Soz but at least if it being taxed and insured until it's collected isn't an issue then you don't have to do anything else...

Gonna scrap our car - do I need to SORN it in the interim? Don't know how long it'll take to get collected and it's parked probably not ideally on a no-parking weekday daytime zone.
