Epic fail

Submitting my own fail to this thread. Posted @Julian_Stock bike wall hooks to @user109540 by mistake. Was already late posting bars to @user109540. Apologies to both of you and thanks for being understanding and helping to work it out. Doh.

I did that on ebay once, not cheap to rectify, but luckily I had two understanding buyers as well.

When I did it on eBay the buyers were very decent and posted stuff to each other and I don’t know if either of them even asked me to reimburse them.

They have now switched the phone off. Will be calling them at 5am tomorrow though.

I'm not Mr M Stevens and don't think HSBC uses EE for it's Voice Mail.

Most likely the SMS source number is faked (since it's nothing to do with the actual scam), it's trivial to do so with the various websites you can use for sending texts in bulk.

There's probably some poor person that has that phone number that is being inundated with texts/calls.

The scammer just wants people to visit the dodgy website that will either install some form of malware or just harvest important information such as logins/passwords/security-questions/etc.

I had my mobile number cloned for a month or so, it was really fucking annoying. I kept getting calls from people who were adamant I'd called them.

The police here seems to up the street value quite a bit every time they find something.

The psni Facebook pages always have comments like "share to win" and "you are getting ripped off" under any drug find photos they post.
