i think Barkley will do great at villa he has improved a from his arrival at chelsea but can still lack that final ball but given regular games i think he will improve again. He never had a long run in a steady team at Chelsea since he arrived due to injury or team/ manager switches so this lone will do him some good i think

Barkley's got bags of ability but decision making was always the worst thing about his game. Playing without crowds is probably the best thing that could happen to him, he never looked like he could handle the groans of the Evertonians when he made a mistake (and we are shite for that).

yeah totally agree he works hard and has that ability i hope he does well.

I think he'll always be a nearly man, he wobbles between useless and overconfident... He looks out of place among world class players, like he feels he shouldn't be there, self-conscious and clumsy most of the time, the lad needs to chill cuz he clearly has some skills... I think it's a mental thing with him...

• #154360
That's a bit harsh but I so wanted him to break through, you can see he's got ability, it's very frustrating...

He looks out of place among world class players
Not going to be a problem at Villa (Grealish apart, obvs).
-
• #154362
Little harsh, but I understand the frustration. Feels like Villa is a good fit. I think he has world class ability, but as I say his decision making and focus can be found wanting and that keeps him from being a true top level player. I don't know whether that's something you can improve (feels like it should be) but hopefully it goes well for him at villa. I always liked him and was disappointed when he left.

champions league draw this morning

Liverpool, Atleti, Inter, RB Salzburg or Liverpool, Ajax, Dynamo Kyiv, Club Brugge ?

I think playing alongside McGinn and Grealish will help. Villa's form seems to mirror whether McGinn is playing.
-
• #154365
I'd imagine he could learn a lot from Grealish. Staying with villa when they went down and playing week-in-week-out in the championship certainly seems to have matured him.

jonny will be like a pig in mud tonight, a 0-0 draw AND penalties
tight game not quite the goalfest everyone was expecting,
some decent performances, grujic probably our man of the match, could be useful to keep around, if he doesn't get sold, for cup games and less challenging premiership games -

if honest the EFL cup doesn't really get on my radar. Liverpool can of course now pretend it wasn't on theirs.
But do appreciate the going straight to penos after 90 mins. My lawyers are pressing for after 45

Nothing from @villa-ru on this board? bring on @cornelius_blackfoot #PrideBeforeTheFall
Solid win tonight but Richarlison and Allan injured puts a bit of a dampener on things. DCL on fire right now.
