They love fucking the ones that do that, we aren't VAT registered but dont turn over that much now, years ago my dad was but it was a proper nightmare for him being a one man band.

Bit out of order, he’s here for advice, not abuse. I know it’s the internet but how about not being such a cunt?

I would open the conversation with the seller and see where it goes. We’re on the brink of a massive recession and all lenders are tightening their belts and taking extra care. It’s not a time you want to be over paying, if we do go down the shitter as predicted then you could be getting more for your money next year?

Sometimes an honest appraisal of the situation helps.

I feel Howard would benefit from some soft skills coaching.

People are massively overpaying still, its like bloody monopoly in Glasgow again and people seem to have forgot deep recession or depression were in that just hasn't bit yet.

Glasgow
which part of north london is that
(jk, I love Scotland and it will be the only place I will consider to move if I ever leave london)
-
• #36485
Its really North London, just a bit outside the centre. I miss London but its not Glasgow although the house prices are fucking stupid right now in every area.

-
• #36490
Theres loads of tories dont worry and loads more SNP but council is SNP ran mostly and imo they are making an utter see you next tuesday of the city.
Far too many drinking the koolaid up here and not seeing that were getting the utter piss took out the citizens.
Not that im saying the tories or labour would do any better.

I mean 1 and 3 are pretty much the same place, Id say its defo between The Cafe and Wee Curry Shop at the art school.Butter chicken in MI is class, I think I prefer the Wee Curry shop there coconut nan is unreal. I dont like the Mother india Resto, they are snobby cunts in there.
Ive not been to kebabish since it mysteriously went on fire and got refurbed, there chicken tikka nan kebab was amazing though. The dhabba is unreal although pricey and there sister place the Dakhin which is south indian is great too.

I'm not a builder but I'm a sole trader and work mainly with businesses. The threshold that you HAVE to register is £85K but you can do it before. I registered when my turnover was way lower as I could charge the same to companies, but claim back loads more of my expenses. It's really simple now with online accounting software etc, albeit with a basic understanding of the tax system and IT.
Problem comes when you work for consumers who can't claim back the VAT and assume it's all Vat inclusive, I'm always very clear but often people quote ex vat and the client doesn't realise and is hit with a bill that is 20% more.
It has already been mentioned, but the only way that I'm aware of that you can 'make' money is to be VAT registered, claim all the expenses back, but do cash in hand jobs that you neither declare income tax or VAT. It doesn't help that people don't realise the difference between the two, especially as basic rate tax and VAT are both '20%' - I have tried to explain the difference to many intelligent friends, but I'm not sure it's fully got through.

Fuck off you silly cunt ?
Did I do that right?
Feels a bit 2009 internet’s friendliest forum to me.
Rogan’s a grown man, he can take a spirited appraisal. Abuse? Don’t be a joker.
Moans about perceived abuse and immediately follows up with abuse. Class.
-
• #36498
Woooooo, wind it in. If Rogan can take 'an honest appraisal' then you should be able to take some light-hearted piss-taking. Don't dish it out if you're unwilling to take the blow-back.
-
• #36499
Hah, I didn’t sugar coat things but dishing it out? Hardly.
But I mean if I did accidentally call someone a cunt as part of that discussion can you point me to where and I will apologise and go back and edit.
Dunno, feel that being accused of being unhelpful, being a cunt and being abusive in one tasty sentence is a bit much. Although I did call Chalfie a bit of a cunt in here once...and that guy on the mask thread. But they were being insufferable.

Don't mean to have a go, but why?
Have you ever done a residential job where the home owner asks you to invoice their VAT registered company?
Survey completed this morning. Surveyor gave me a call when he was done, fingers crossed sounds like nothing more than we were expecting anyway for the age and visual condition of the place. Mortgage valuation tomorrow.
