Broke down a cardboard Cinelli bike box and noticed the bottom flaps were staples and glued together, with the glue spelling two words out in neat handwriting. Some sort of clever anti-counterfeit practice, or just a worker being bored?
Edit- apparently it’s either a security measure or Chickenandsons/ Cinelli have an angry Javanese staff member haha.

I am not watching tv nor iplayer anymore. Is there anything I need to consider when my current licence expires and I don’t want to renew it? Apart from the threatening letters every other week that is...

After about 9 months they call and at that point they left us alone

just go on their website and put in that you don't need a license and they won't bother you/

ha. hahaha. hahahahahaha.
There's a thread for it over on yacf and the consensus is that it doesn't really matter what you do, they'll still call or write with a series of different threatening letters.
If you don't watch telly and don't watch any TV or use iPlayer then just throw the letters away (although I'd probably read them first just to make sure they aren't something you can ignore). Fundamentally you don't need to pay for something you don't use if you really don't use it.
Any accidental watching of iPlayer may trigger them to up their game if they can work out it's coming from you (Broadband providers can provide them details of which phyisical addresses had which IP addresses at a particular time).

Are there any long drop brake calipers that are as good as the TRP rg957 but ideally significantly less expensive?
Have you thought about Caliper Brake Extend Adapters? and using any brakes you like? These have worked really well for me and didn't affect braking at all.

If I already had a set of brakes that I liked and wanted to use I'd consider giving that a go! As it stands I don't so I'd rather just go for something designed for the task, rather than spending the money on something and then having to bodge it anyway.

What reach do you need? The Shimano BR-R600 is 57mm and probably the best one they make, it’s the older model Ultegra equivalent. Quite scarce now though. The BR-R650 is very similar.

I know fuck all about bottom brackets that aren't square taper, so my question is...
Can I find a crank set that fits BB30, gearing 46-30 or thereabouts, road q factor, under 100 pounds, either new or used?

Shimano FC-RX600, although it will probably be slightly over £100 once you've added a BB30 adapter. Q is 5mm more than Shimano road cranks

Good question actually. I'll have to measure when I'm with the bike. It needs to fit over 32c tyres and guards so I guess a decent amount.

Anyone know the thread pitch for the pivot bolt on the Park CN-10 cable cutter? Seems finer than anything I have in the tickle trunk.

Thanks Tester

@LTC a bit late but I rate the Shimano R650s. I'm think they're Ultegra level but non series, they're definitely better than all the big standard Tektros I've tried. I've not tried TRP 957s. The R650s come up a lot on ebay and the less better finished (and possibly different pivots) versions are the Tiagra level R451s.

Anyone got a good lead on a Thomson Elite 25.4mm Seatpost? Or any other equivalent non-carbon Seatpost that'll fit a 2015 Synapse?
I've tried bike-components.de but they're struggling to deliver to Spain...

Try local shops for a BBB BSP-20, does the same job for about a quarter of the price. It's also widely available from here and ze Germans, but the online retailers I've checked don't have stock in 25.4

I have that post in 27.0, it's perfect. This shop has the 25.4 and ships it to the UK for €9.50:

Anyone? Park Tool hasn't answered me yet.
I would substitute a nut and bolt of my own but part of the cutter is also threaded in this superfine way. -

And, closest cheap substitution for Phil's Tenacious?

Anti fling chainsaw oil.

Been reading about chainsaw oil as a sub, wonder whether the winter or summer version is closer in viscosity. I use it mostly for my F&S coaster brake hubs and oilable BBs.

Perhaps look at something like EP90 or similar
SwissStop green.
