• It's because you have TBT directions turned on. In that case Garmin has to recreate your route using its internal maps to work out where the turns are. So that it can direct you in the wrong direction...

    I like the arrows on the roads though. And most of the time the routes lie pretty much on top of each other. Do I lose the arrows when I turn off TBT?

    @hippy: Do you mean I need to change a setting in my Garmin to use OSM maps instead of Garmin's?

  • Yeah, depending on which Garmin is usually buried in Activity Profile (current profile) > Navigation > Maps > something about active maps and then you can go through and select/deselect the different map options. So, depending on which Garmin I'm using, it might have updated Garmin maps for say UK, but if I'm in Europe I'll have put on OSM maps. In this case I turn everything off except the EU OSM maps so it doesn't waste time loading UK maps.
