Probably worth seeing if it’s still in warranty and extending g with Toyota if possible

Couldn’t find a Caddy I wanted for £5k, so bought a Disco 3 instead. I don’t really know how I went from a caddy to a discovery, but it happened.
It’s fucking massive. Fella I bought it off collects Disco 2.5’s and gave me an off road driving lesson in the woods behind his ‘compound’. Was top LOLZ.

The recall was done here, twice on some models first drivers airbag then passenger air bag, most were straight swap, the second wave had a much lower percentage change rate as only one batch was effected, we had to remove and check the numbers on the label and only change defective ones.

Folding mirrors button, provided they are folding mirrors and someone hasn't fitted the wrong switch :), the sliding switch switches between control of left and right mirror, also if the switch is set to control the right mirror the left mirror will dip when you select reverse or vice versa :)

A few 4 cyl petrol E46 suffered with stretching timing chains, they came in for a retro fit vacuum sensor and programming to allow a new 'chain stretch check' in diagnosis. By pressing the brake pedal hard at idle three times the test module looked at the difference between crankshaft and camshaft signals to detect any delay caused by chain wear. If it was beyond a certain point a manual wear test was then required.
It was the later diesel N47 engines that suffered the much worse problems
Six cylinder BMW's are the ones to get the four cylinder engines over the past fifteen years have suffered reliability problems.

Nice!
Tempted by one of those but the I’m not sure I can go back to the tech stone age.

The Wavetrac is arguably just as good as a quaife for 80% of users without having to service/replace parts.
-
• #58139
If you are replacing, then heat is your friend. Also a lambda sensor socket.
-
• #58140
@nefarious Yeah heat up the exhaust side and then use Plumbers freeze spray on the probe and get a big pair of stilsons on the job :D

We've had a few of these.
First one, I wrote off in a ditch.
Second one, another family member wrote off in a ditch
Third one, sheep carrying ended its life prematurely- mixed with Devon weather and repeated river visits.Swapped the last one for a old(new) Defender (ie the one before this new style).
It carries sheep better, but it isn't as nice on long drives.Good cars.
Very easy to write off in ditches. -

I’m actually quite liking the agricultural aspect of it so far TBH.
I do need to get some sort of Bluetooth capable stereo tho. -

Will watch out for ditches.

Top post, would read again, in a ditch.
-
• #58145
You’ve convinced me it’s worth a go.
I’ve just done an oil and filter change, which seems like a waste of time if the engine light is still on when I’m selling it. -

Had a quick google after you posted it. You can get a wireless apple CarPlay head unit for them now.
£700 though...
-
• #58147
On headunit chat, has anyone tried one of the budget android headunits?
And in Honda Jazz related news I just saw a man unload an integrated fridge from his Jazz at the tip. I was impressed. Then he unloaded the freezer as well and wasnt done. I hadnt realised they were that cavernous.

A jazz with the back seats down would probably fit an XL 29er MTB.
-
• #58149
They’re boxy, and the seats fold down so well that it creates an impressively big space.
Optimal as fuck. -

How big is the load area in the Disco?
Are third party warranties on a second hand car worth it? Car will probably still be covered by manufacturer warranty (3 year old Yaris). If they are, any provider worth looking at?
