Identify my track frame please!

  • I am trying to find out what the frame could be with little luck!
I've checked the luging styles and serial numbers but nothing seems to fit correctly.
The Frame itself was picked up 2nd hand in New Zealand about 15years ago. I have stripped the frame back to the steel and repainted it myself.

    • Being from NZ I think there are some limits to what the frame could and would be
    • Similar lugging styles Ive found have been from the 1950-60's Carlton and Raliegh but could also be Hercules/ Zeus or even Bennet frame as they were popular in NZ
    • fairly certain the forks aren't original
    • ignore the paint job and parts that are on it currently as I have been hooning around on this as my fixie

If any one has some clues or ideas of where to start looking I would be keen to hear their thoughts as I'd like to build this up with parts of the era.

  • where to start looking

    NZ would be a start?

  • Yea I have tried a couple forums but with little to no response. Figured the engagement here might be a better chance.

  • I don't think it is a Carlton because they usually have wrapover stays.

  • Yea, Carlton frames have wrap over seat stays.

    Lugs could be Nervex.

Serial number appears to be in a format Schwinn used to use for their Paramount frames. A8724 would be the 24th frame of the model built in January 1987 (A being the letter code for the month, eg. A = January, B = February, etc).

Or may be I'm full of shit. Who knows.

  • Thanks @tobes looking a lot like the paramount Schwinn. still finding it hard to confirm from old images as most images are of the road frames.
