does anyone have an ear to the ground regarding which third party providers to the NHS (digital consultancies, i imagine) are largely responsible for the test, track and trace being the monumental fuck up that it clearly is?

Fair bit written about the track & trace part in Private Eye - some of it was being done by local government, outsourced bit mostly Serco I think?

The 9th July episode of their podcast (Page 94) is good, goes into the relative success of the (in house) furlough scheme + in house portion of track & trace vs the disaster of the outsourced bit.

It is self report and then extrapolated but you have to put in daily if you have had a test and what the result was and they send you a test if you are displaying symptoms or displaying other symptoms that they ask you about and are trying to establish a connection and prevalance such as fatigue and headaches

Anybody else getting irked at various ministers mentioning that people are having too many Covid tests because they are free? (completely ignoring the fact that they taxpayer has paid for them and will likely be paying for them for tens of years to come)

or the fact that that the implication is that the only time a test is worth taking is if the outcome is positive?

I think they're getting irked at people who are getting tested when they don't qualify under any of the following reasons:-

And I can say that the majority of people I know who've gone for tests have lied on the form and said they had symptoms so they can get tested before going to see relatives.

Was going to rant here but just saw a buzzard fly overhead, it was magnificent and graceful.

What's more annoying is that all of the people I know who have been doing this have enough money to pay for a private test.
