  • Is there a default recommendation for a torque wrench?
Mostly for bikes, so lower range would be required.
wont get much use so ideally not mega ££££

  • The Planet X Jobsworth has done the job for me, looks like the Lifeline Essential one is the same. I wouldn't use it in a shop because the calibration may be untrustworthy but if you urr on the side of caution you'll be fine. Likewise I've got a Ritchey Torque Key which is set to 5nm but has replaceable bits and I only needed it for seatpost collars and stems anyway.

It's such a FAQ that there's even a default answer, which is UTFS

I have a range of Norbar torque wrenches (0-20, 20-80, 60-200 or something similar).

Unless you get them regularly calibrated, then there's really not much point getting anything too spendy. I've got a combination of Draper and Norbar torque wrenches and drivers, but what I usually end up using is either a Ritchey 5Nm allen key driver or the Bontrager 4Nm equivalent, cos am lazy. Except for things like BBs and cranks, obviously, where 4/5Nm isn't really going to cut it.
